Talking [pics] my Track/Daily-driver G35 Sedan / mod list-dyno#'s, track pics

well, here are some pictures of my g35 sedan from a few weekends ago at california speedway. below the pictures is a mod list, and some other misc. info. pardon the race tape...

with a very cool bmw 2002 (was running that day)

engine bay..

rear..

................

Here are the modifications I've done, and some weights and dyno #'s.

2003 Infiniti G35 Sedan (Nissan Skyline V35 350GT Sedan), Hence plate = [TND V35 = Tuned V35]

est BHP: 295 BHP
est Torque: 274 ibs/ft
(17% est DT-Loss, Conservative numbers I'd hope)

Measured WHP: 244.5 WHP
Measured Torque: 227.2 ibs/ft
Dyno Model: Dynojet 248C
(Dyno numbers were before headers/exhaust, crank pulley, and synthetic engine/tranny fluids)

Current Wet Weight: 3150 Pounds (1/4 Tank Fuel)
(75 Pounds Less Than 350Z Track Dry)

The weightloss was acheived with a numbers of things. Headers/exhaust save 30 pounds. Seats save 120 pounds. I removed the rear door panels and seats, saved about 60-70 pounds. Stripped the entire trunk, removed the spare, another 40-50 or so there. I remove the sub box at the track, otherwise it sits behind the passenger sparco (for better weight distribution, haha). The other stereo components don't weigh more then stock. Wiring is +1 pound. Amps are +7 pounds maybe. The alpine TV, even with the brain, weighs less then the stock nissan double din unit, which anyone who has removed knows, is somewhat heavy.

To date, I've driven the car at Big Willow, Streets, Buttonwillow, and California Speedway (infield). I've also dragged at LACR (1/4), and Irwindale and Qualcomm (before they shut down).

I don't time at the track, but a friend let me know I was lapping in the 1:35 range at california speedway. My best 1/4 without launching too hard was 14.2 @ 97.x . This was more then a year ago... can't remember the exact numbers.

Anyway, the car is a ton of fun. I'm the original owner, 52,000 miles to date. Everything about the car has held up well to 2 1/2 years of solid abuse. A nice 250-300 pound diet from the stock G35 Sedan weight has really, really livened up the feel of the car.

I'll try to post some pics of the stripped rear, and some non-track taped pictures soon. The next round of modifications for the car includes ap racing 6/4 piston brakes, tein flex coilovers, 3.5 FD and a LSD, and some random refreshing of the exterior (new paint, windshield maybe), 05 taillights, hid's.

Then its the engine off to sgp, a turbonetics single turbo, and a new 6-speed tranny. The drivetrain/exterior of the car will be like new...

Comments and questions welcome... thanks!

Phil

Default willow springs this week

here is a picture of me driving at willow springs this week. i believe it is the exit of turn 1. track driving is a good alternative to work, i highly suggest it.

Very nice car. Looks outstanding too. You need to get together with Clint (THX728) who drives his white sedan (with fewer mods) at the track quite a bit, often with Speedventures.

Hey ... nice pics. I'm surprised I haven't seen you around any of the local tracks! These days, I mostly go through SpeedVentures for all my track fixes.

See you around!
