Default I Got A Problem

i just found out that the stock 18" wheels from a G35 coupe and the track wheels from a 350z were stolen within a week. I live in a nice neighborhood and I was shocked. They are redoing the gates and they are left open. I am scared that I might be the next victom. I am thinking about getting wheel locks for my car, will these work? If anyone has any suggestions, I am will to take them.

Well, I'm guessing you always park your car outside so I would say the first step is to get some good wheel locks or spline drive lugs like the one found on this thread: https://my350z.com/forum/wheels-and-tires/116619-my-new-mcgard-spline-drive-lug-nuts-and-locks-pics.html . I personally have both (4 spline drive lugs & 1 standard wheel lock on each wheel). Now the next step up is to get a fairly good alarm system so at least you have an early warning system in place. The sad thing is...if someone really wants to steal your stuff (regardless of locks, alarms, etc...), they can. It's just a matter of making it harder for them to do so.

Add a dual-stage shock sensor and motion sensor to your stock alarm. If car gets jacked, it will trigger alarm. Thieves will test and see if you upgraded your alarm system, before trying anything. Probably gently hit sides to see of alarm goes off. Your factory alarm only sets-off when door is open. So does not protect your wheels. Some may have power tools to break off the wheel locks, and the van that parked right next to your vehicle may have an air compressor. They can take your rims in less than a minute. Wake-up in morning and your G or Z is sitting on blocks.

Shock sensor is your best bet. The wheel locks have sockets that are commercially available to anyone who knows how to use a phone or computer.

If you have an aftermarket alarm there's something called a tilt sensor so it detects any motion of jacking up the car and will trigger the alarm, this will work better then a shock sensor. There's also a proximity sensor that triggers a warning when someone is close to your car if they continue to stand there the alarm will trigger. If there's no plans in getting a different alarm go for the wheel locks, its' much cheaper.
