Default 06 All Wheel Steering

Does anyone have any information on the new 06's having all wheel steering? I saw this on the spec list and was curious if anyone had any info.

I havent.
But this looks like a good sign, perhaps a step towards the GTR?
Maybe they will test HICAS for a year to see how it is reacted to before releasing it on the new Skyline GTR

wow is this confirmed?

id imagine rear wheel steering would require some extensive rear suspension changes, not something mid life facelift funds stretch far enough for.....

Nice addition, but just how heavy is Nissan going to allow this car to become?

Didn't the Z32s have rear wheel steering, first as some fancy system and then as a rack in the back in later models?

I don't think this is new for Nissan but yeah, it will probably add weight.

I hope the evolution of the Z33 does not go like that. Start out basic, then get better, then start cheapening things as the car gets priced and insured out of existence.

Can anyone confirm that this is going to be on the 06's?

They did have this in the Z32's and in the S13's 240sx's. Most people get rid of them if they want to drift.

Yes, Rear Active Steering (RAS), the same system used on the new M Sport models, is confirmed as an option on MY06 G35 Coupes. It is available on 6MT models with Premium and 5AT models with Premium & Sport.

I've already got mine on order - Athens Blue 6MT, Premium, Navi, RAS

[From Nissannews.com]
Enhancements to the 2006 G35 Coupe include:
· Standard projector-beam bi-xenon headlights
· Revised taillights
· Sport-Tuned Suspension Package adds a unique front fascia and side sills and new optional rear spoiler (standard on G35 Coupe 6MT)
· Aluminum accent ring added to the door panel speakers
· New exterior color – Liquid Platinum
· Available Rear Active Steer, vehicle-speed-sensitive power steering, and 15.1:1 steering gear ratio
· New Premium Package adds Intelligent Key, Bluetooth® Hands-Free Phone system and driver’s seat and steering wheel memory plus automatic entry/exit assist (5AT only)
· Premium Package for G35 Coupe models add Bluetooth® Hands-Free Phone system and driver’s seat and steering wheel memory

Thanks for the confirmation. I think I'm going to wait for the 06 to come out and give the Evo to my wife. That way I can still drive it when I feel fit. Use the G for a cruising car and the Evo as my power/track car.

Most people with the HICAS system on the Z32 got the Stillen delete kit. Too much weight, not much benefit. I wonder if this is rehash of the same thing. Does anyone know if the 6MT get's the wider tires/wheels and staggered arangement that the GT Z get's?

The only thing cool about HICAS is the quicker front rack. I got a S13 HICAS front rack and swapped it into my S14.

I have it on the Z32 and not crazy about it. It is nice at low speeds with a nice tight turning radius but at high speeds it makes the rear end feel lose not a fun feeling.

The steering ratio on RAS-equipped G35 Coupes quickens from 15.9:1 to 15.1:1
