Ok, here's my dilenma:
Hurriance Katrina totalled my 2004 Z down here in Miami the Thursday before the New Orleans tragedy. I (like a dumbass) was trying to make it home from south of Miami to my house in Miami at the same time that Katrina was making her sharp turn to the south (right toward me). I managed to get hit by a falling tree, flood my car and lock up (rods' bent) my engine that night . Regardless, my insurance declared the Z a total loss and now I have some money toward a down payment on a new car.
My Z was a 2004 with the 287hp engine and I would much rather get the 300hp engine in the 2005 Track/35th or the 2006 6-speeds Z. From searching these forums, I understand this 300hp Z engine is basically the "rev-up" or Nismo S-1 engine with a higher redline and lower torque. It sounds appealing to me since I use to drive VTEC Honda's before the Z.
BUT.............., I'm engaged and my Fiance wants a car with 4 seats (the things we men give up for women). So, since I loved my Z so much and the G35 Coupe is practically a 2+2 seat Z, I'm looking at the G35.
The basic question: Is the 298hp G engine the same as the 300hp Z engine? Higher redline? cams? better rods? VTC on Both exhaust and intake? etc?
Sorry for the long post guys, but I just had to vent the entire story. Before anybody calls me a dumbass about driving the Z in the middle of the hurricane, I had chosen to do so because my family was having severe flooding in my house and they were freaking out. Family comes before cars, including the Z.
Thank you for any input!

Yes, I believe the engines are nearly identical, including stronger rods(supposedly but no one has mentioned how), VTC for both exhaust & Intake, 7k or 71k redline.
So with the Z's neutral Drag, did it cut through those winds pretty easy. Thats like a home made Turbo. FI from teh 80+mph winds..

Thanks for input barthelb! Anybody know?
As for the Z cutting through the wind; it was pretty windy, but I didn't feel a push like you would driving a van or something. My "scared shitless" part was the sideways driving rain, the flooding, the fallen signs and the nice trees on the road. I was more worry about skidding into a canal.
