If by race pipes, you mean getting rid of the cats. I think it sounds good. I had that setup for a long time. Just be sure to get resonated test pipes. There will still be some rasp sound, but thats to be expected with any test pipes.

I recommend that you go for performance not chase some sort of elusive exotic sound. Test pipes to replace the OEM catalytic converters? Go for it.

I just replaced mine yesterday... I have non-resonated pipes... Driving normal, which is shifting at around 3k for me, it sounds practically stock... At WOT you get some rasp and its loud like a pissed off Z. It doesn't bother me much to be honest with you because I'm not driving it WOT 90% of the time. Although, outside of the car... It sounds awesome. My friend did a fly-by for me, I thought he just wanted to drive my car but he was right. It sounds a lot different outside of the car than inside.

It's not too loud. It sounds just like stock, but a little bit louder. I would recommend it. I don't have any dyno numbers to show you, but freeing up the exhaust has to make something.

Short description inside the car- normal driving conditions is sounds stock. WOT it sounds like a bat out of hell with some rasp. If you drive really aggressive the rasp may annoy you.

Outside the car it sounds different. It sounds like a race car. I'll try to get a vid this weekend.

Feels like it frees up top end to me. It also frees up some weight too. I think someone weighed each cat at 26lbs each, not sure how much the brace weighs... Each test pipe is like what, 10lbs?

OMG, I took out my Invidia G200 exhaust + R/T Cats, then put back my stock system (cats +exhaust)...........the car is slow as sheeeeeesssssshhhhhhh......from 0-40 I feel like I gained some power, but after 40 I can see the RPM go up but the car is not moving .... it's not my imagination but it's a FACT.............so i bet race pipes would do much more better

Be warned guys, adding an exhaust might not get rid of the rasp If you don't have headers, it might though, but if you do, probably not. I noticed once I installed my headers, it made the rasp louder. Then I put on an exhaust and it changed the tone of the rasp, but it was still there and loud.
