G35 Vs 350z
if your working three jobs, whats the point. You won't have time to enjoy it anyway. Have you researched what your insurance rates will be? Fuel costs? I spend probably $60- $75 in gas a week and I only live 2 miles from work. Then you also have to take in account the speeding tickets that you WILL eventually get and what that will do to your insurance.
If you want to do something stupid and get a really fast vehicle while your young, spend 1/4 as much and get a motorcycle.
by the way, I like the G better

We own a G35 with basic suspension mods and I drove my friend's 350Z with basic engine mods and eibach springs. If you want more performance, I'd say the 350Z. Out of the box, the Z will out-handle the G anyday. With basic mods in the suspension, 350Z shines while the G is so and so. Lighter is always better so that's a plus. The Z's cockpit has a more race-car feel than the G, its a lot easier to drive and feel what the car is doing.
On the other hand, IN MY OPINION the G looks better than Z, and you have a back-seat, and people take a second look. G35 are just sexy, though the Z is not as much, it makes up for it with its performance.
Now, I haven't driven a G with really good suspension mods so I can't comment on that one yet, but so far springs and swaybars on our car just don't cut it, while my friends' springs alone on his Z feels 10x better.
If you want speed, well it doesn't matter if you choose a Z, G , a civic or a ford tempo, Its how much you have in your pockets.
It all boils down to, what you want to do with a car man.

Living in So Cal, the G35 has become the new "I'm in my mid twenties and I'm doing well," type of car. This honor used to be reserved by the BMW 3 series, but the G has become the new "it" car.
The 350z, although pretty abundant as well, doesn't seem to carry a smug stigma around it. It's just car that gnarly and bad ***.

Ahhh,.. Post number one..
here it goes, I hope you enjoy..
it all depends on this..
when making your crack sales are you in an area the police heavily patrol?
See, I ask because the Z would be a better car in this case becuase you'd be able to me a better getaway attempt. .. The G, on the other hand, does have a trunk which will fit at least 1 body, unless you chop them up.. .. it will also seperate you from the smell, much better than what will happen in the Z.
Both cars will get you the undeserved respect and awe of your friends and will definately take care of the small ***** problem you may/maynot be suffering from...
Make sure you get leather, because youdon't want popped pimple juice getting squeezed onto the cloth..
They both come standared with an Insurance bill, so keep that in mind. Nothing is more funny than the local kid buying a car that he thinks he can afford and watch it sit because he can't afford the payment + gas + insurance + drug habbit..
I, personally, think you should invest your money in an older car for now, give it a couple of years, learn how to drive defensively, learn more about the internal workings of the entire car, including ripping your engine apart and putting it back together so you don't get raped on service charges when you're older. The other thing I'd like for you to consider is why.. why do you need a $35k car?? is it because everyone else has a nice car, or so you can win popularity? ..
Can you afford the car if you have any unforeseen costs come up?
Is working 40 hours a week really that big of deal? (sorry, but 3 jobs totalling 40 hours.. not a biggie).. I mean, I was in the Military and worked one job for 60 hours a week, didn't mean I needed to get a car that absorbed 99.9% of my paycheck..
Just consider everything before taking the plunge into a car that might put you in over your head....
If you are financing keep in mind that your credit score isn't all too favorable at your age and lack of credit use (I'm guessing here).. also keep in mind that rates are going up each week it seems.. the average rate is 7.5% I think and the low rates are about 5.2%.. On a $35+ k car in NJ (I thought I saw you were in NJ) your insurance is going to be about $600 a month + the $850 or so a month car payment and the $60 a week in gas you'll probably wind up using....
it adds up quick and you don't want to be caught in a pickle that will ruin your credit for the next 7-10 years.
If you have the cash saved up spend $12k on a used car and talk to a financial consoltant about investing the rest.. At 17 if you invest $20k in a conservative IRA fund you would be way ahead of the game and looking at a pretty nice retirement one day.. ( try to dump about 2k a year in that IRA )..
It may sound like non-sense to you, but this is coming from a 31 year old who has a pretty decent nearly 3k sq-ft house, a boat, a sport trac, a 67 mg, a 91 3kgt Vr-4, getting a G35 tomorrow, getting rid of an 06 MX-5 (lemon, long story), a decent retirement in my future, a Victory Vegas motorcycle that I customized a little, and plenty of money saved up.. I have my cell phone, house payment, and utility bills (and car insurance)..
So, before you toss all your money down on a car think about long term gradification before the instant..
..
The End..
and we lived happily ever after..
here it goes, I hope you enjoy..it all depends on this..

You guys sound like the cranky *** old men I work with. When I first got my car all I heard was this kind of crap. One guy had the nerve to say his 95 pickup was just as good as my G. Just because he knocked up this girl, married her and has to change his priorities doesn't mean he should take it out on me. I'm 23, drive a G35, over half of my paycheck goes into savings not including my 401k and yet people think I'm doing something wrong because I bought a semi-expensive car.
My father even made the comment, "christ, I didn't have a car this expensive when I was your age." in a tone thatgave the impression he thought I shouldn't have it. Comparison of the two of us at 22? He was married, in the Air Force with a 1yr old(me). Those two combined kinda kill the idea of any non-essential purchases. Where you have me, 22 recently un-engaged(thank god) and a decent paying job. Big difference there.
So in short just because you couldn't afford a car like this at his age doesn't mean he can't. But I strongly suggest to the OP that he do his research first. Check with your insurance agent and find out how much a month this car will cost. Think about how much you drive and consider that you probably won't see better than 18-20mpg/city and how much that will cost you a month.
I completely overlooked the cost of gas in my calculations. lol

It's not a question of "what can be afforded" more so than "what you have to do to keep it"..
See, just because he can afford it now doesn't mean he always can.. You should always keep in mind what the future might bring.. When I was your age, 22, I already had my first house a 3000gt and my wife had a nice Jeep Cherokee.. I was in the Air Force, as was she though, and we didn't have to worry about losing our jobs.
I feel a car like a G35 is a pretty bad idea for most 17 year olds. I know I would have been willing to race anyone that was at the stop light next to me if I had one... but.. at the same time.. if I wanted one and I worked damn hard no one would convince me not to do it.. so I guess this is a waste of time, but just consider all the facts and ask yourself if you NEED to have this car right now, or if you can wait a few more years.. 21 + = BIG insurance drop.

I have to tell you... I enjoy the Z350 more...
I can say this because I bought myself an '06 Z 3 months ago... and bought my wife a '06 G35 Coupe a week ago...
The Z is a sportier more spirited ride... IMO. The G is awesome too, but save that car for when your older... Id definitly get the Z now...
The G rides more luxurious than the Z, guess Im repeating myself, but I like the ride and performance from the Z more...
Thats my 2 cents... Best of luck in the decision...
