Yeah they are far from junk man, of coarse in the first year or so there are problems with diffrent systems on the new platform. But for the number of people that actualy have true manufacture problems and those who shift for **** are run together. I've seen peopl shift first at like 6,000 rpm; only hit the clutch for a tap and grind it into 4th. Yeah with that kind of stress you are gonna have issues. This is where people get many 3rd to 4th grinding noises when they shift. Many care not to admit it though .

These things are holding @$$ loads of power that people are throwing at it. So far from my reading on this forum I havnt heard of a FI car needing serious repairs beause Tranny blew, or even the rear end. The Rods will go WAY befor the Tranny gearing. Hell the half shaft will go way befor the tranny.

Thats what I will call junk a tranny that wont enven hold up to stock power more less FI heavy loads. Again with any mass production vehicle, usualy the first year of production on the road is like beta testing. They find bugs that wernt thought of during the original design process curtosey of the buyer. Hints the paid for recall process and stringent standards of proof. If they can prove it wasnt manufacturer defect that caused it they wont pay.

simple equation 1st year + dealer markup = whiney gunie pigs. They complained the most so they got the most attention. How many 05 and 06's have tranny issues? So generalizing all Z's tranny's are crap is kinda a broad sweeping generalization.

I agree with the transmission statement. They're freakin strong, alabeit the early ones had bad syncrhos. If you have an 04.5+, the synchros are fine and the trannys are fine too. I havn't heard of a manual tranny having a problem, even though some guys are in the 700+rwhp range w/ them
