Default ok so my car got screwed tonight

ok so my dad took my G coupe to work tonight, and when he got home parked it outside, and it was in gear and the parking break was on, but the parking break has been crappy. So anyways I go outside and dont see my car in the driveway, so I thought someone stole it, so I look to the bottom of my driveway, and see it at the bottom in the middle of the road. The car went out of gear and went down my driveway in reverse, and ran over some huge rocks dominating the bottom of my car, and then ran into a light pole totally screwed up my rear end... I am really pissed. I will have to get some pics tomorrow and post them for you guys

It' happened to me once @ a liquor store. When I came out there was a guy in the back of my car trying to hold it in place cuz he said it just started rolling. I thank the guy and bought him a six pack. I was happy nothing happened to my car, and he was happy with his six pack.

i dont know if this matters, but perhaps he left it in reverse? I usually keep mine in 1st unless i'm facing down a steep hill. Some others like to keep it in R. If the grade was slight it would be easy to think the parking brake would just hold it. sux that it happened tho At least it didn't hit another car or a person!

lol, sorry to hear though

But generaly if you live on an incline dont you turn your wheel to provent it from happening in the first place?

I guess this is why an A/T is nice some times, they dont pop out of gear, and one must put it in park to get the key out

As what the people above said... pics are needed.

^well to add to what HardTech said, if you got MT..you car should be in the right gear (either 1st or reverse) to begin with after you shut it off with the E-brake. If the car was in neutral while you were on an incline/decline, then I think you could had helped prevent this. Just my 2 cents. Hope the repairs go without a hitch and hope the only damage was cosmetic.

Yeah, no way it would magically pop out of gear.

The parking brake does suck on these cars. You really have to pull hard to get the brakes to bite.
