Default 04'-05' G35 Problems ??

Ive had my eye on the G35's since they came out and was wondering if the 04' or 05's have any type of problems that would push me away from purchasing one ? It would have the 6spd and most likely will have about 10-15K miles on it. I have my eye on a few now.

Im a member of maxima.org and many of the guys have been putting the 3.5 motors into their maximas and I know many of the newer Maximas and Altimas have Oil burning problems. Is this a possible problem if I purchase a G35 ??

Thanks for any help guys

I have been looking at the same thing. I wouldnt get the manual with all the problems I have read on it. just read a long list of oil burning too. also some can go thru front tires quick on coupes. not sure it that has been fixed or not

I have an 03 6MT... here's my problems:

(all done under warranty)
* 6 speed trans sucks.
* driver seat squeaks
* Random check engine light and loss of power.
* Rear axles click
* inside of rear tires wear out fast (front's almost as fast)
* Headlight housings cracked
* CD player quit working
* rear speakers rattle
* Rearview mirror rattles (even after complete replacement)
* Brembo rotors warped. (pads only last about 5-7k)
* e-brake cable broke on driver side rear.
* car just sucks in general... I'm selling it after my mods are gone.

no offense, but tire wear, trans, CEL - when you look at the list of mods, do you really have any wonder? tires a lot larger w/different offset, different spring rates than stock, Turbo XS Utec, ATI Procharger?

brembos stock do wear too fast (10k for me, done), rear speaker rattles, axle click - been there, but you are damn lucky that they did any warranty work on drivetrain or engine issues after changing so many things - not that these are "bad" mods, and yes, a lot of '03 trans sucked but were replaced quickly w/o question - by the book, they could have easily told you tough luck, bring it back stock and we'll look at it -

when you go down the road of mods, you pretty much lose your right to complain about the things very possibly directly related to the mods - even a short shift kit can hose your warranty for a trans issue.

sorry to hear you're having so many problems, but when you change a car significantly I can't agree that the car "sucks" because you start having problems other than those that cannot possibly be related to mods.

I have an '04 and I love it. With any used car you may or may not have problems (never know who drove it last). I did have the clicking rear end but when I took it in they said there was a bulliten on it and they fixed it in like 20 min while I waited. I take my car in for any little squeak and click, so I can tell you that Infinity will go above and beyond to keep their customers happy. I never got that type of service with my Subaru STI. Every time I took it in I was basically interigated to see if I was abusive the slightest bit. I say definately go with the G. I'm not sure how reliable the '03s are but then again you didn't really ask about '03s, did you?

INFINITI

I have had very few problems with my 04 coupe, but the dealership covered everything for me

replaced transmission, brake pads, then installed new rotors and pads recently, replaced some window motor (windows were squeaking a lil due to my kicker).

do the newer years get any better? I thought on one thread people were on the third manual transmission and not to 20k miles yet.

I found an 04 with 25 k on it, silver, black interior that is an automatic. might be bought around 27. sounds like the tire feathering might affect all of them the way the front ends are set up. anything else I should check, does have a clean car fax

Of course, I've had zero problems on my 2005 G35 6MT (except for ones directly related to my mods)

I have a early 05 (Jan) and the only real problem I had is axel click. Dealership covers that though......I also had my Mater Cylider for my clutch go bad, but that is rare...other then that it's great! Make sure if you get the 05 get the "revup" engine (298hp)........I forgot 1 thing, tires are pricey if you really drive your car...LOL

* Wear prematurely on brake (pads) and tires (you needs to replace around 17K)

I have an '03 5AT Coupe with 42k miles.

Only problem is that front brakes wear fast, on this model they even extended a warranty for the pads to 3yr 36k mi. because of excessive wear. Other than that, they re-greased the rear axle before I ever had any of the common "clicking". That's it. Good luck!

Those are not the stock size tires and/or wheels, so you can't really call that a problem with the stock vehicle.

As for the bose, I'd take that back to the dealer and complain. It should be under warranty....

03' 6MT 43kmiles ONLY problem would be the wear on the rear tires, but found a great site for that, and I put TOYO's on her. Website, www.tiredeals4u.com

03 6MT
Tires gone at 22K. Brembos still going at 25K. Clutch/tranny is a but noisy but still going strong. Rear diff started making buzzing sound at 70+mph off throttle, changed to synth oil and now its fine. No other problems other than some rattles hear and there.

my 2004

Own: 6 months

Had roters changed. (infiniti didnt cover)
Breaks changed ( covered)
BOSE System - very disappointed. LEft front speaker changed 2 times. And all speakers changed 1 time since begining of ownership. I had the stereo system changed fully. They CD's were getting stuck and very staticy noise.

Car takes a VERY long time to warm up ( almost as long as my explorer did) *15 mins*
- leather drivers seat sqeeks.
