G35c Body Strength vs. Z's
At the risk of sounding n00bish... I'm thinking about trading in my Z for a G coupe and I was just curious about something. With the back seat and no cross bar like the Z has under the hatch, is the G any less stable or weaker under hard turns?

Hmm....with the shape of the pass through, it sure looks like the G also has that cross bar. I've never seen what's underneath so I can't confirm. I'd wait to see what comes out before making any decisions, particulary between ones that are somewhat similar and have the same bloodlines.

Unorthodox_Z, Do it if you want the best of both worlds.
Just make sure its a 6MT; looks better and it has the sport tuned suspension which works perfect if you canyon run as much as I do
But I do agree with TheGest; wait until mid april for the unveiling of the new coupe. Just to make sure you don't regret anything.

you are talking about the rear strut bar? the G doesn't even have a front one. yes the G flexes and rolls more than the Z. 08 coupe will come with the HR motor, this year's coupe has the old engine

I dont know how much a Z flexes, but I was alittle shocked by how much my G flexes when backing out of my driveway (rather steep and sloped). The rear glass sounded like it was going to pop out/break on some cold mornings. My sunroof makes alot of noise from all the flexing, the SR frame even used to pop when I went into driveways or make turns onto higher pavement. I had the dealer replace everything and the pop was still there. Everything was tight and I verfied my welds were good myself (had all the rear interior out for other reasons). The pass thru metal in the rear isnt thick enough to be considered a RSB. But, I'm sure it helps some, just not alot.
Not complaining, love the car, just an observation in 4 years of owning it.

Also, does anyone know if there are any good aftermarket parts to increase the body's stiffness?

GT spec bars! Rear strut bar! Front strut bar! On the Z the GT spec bars make a difference, so it should be greater on a G35. Btw, i thought the G35 also had a rear strut bar, but its not visible.

Also, A hatch is less structurally sound then a Sedan. Hatch is like a open C laying on its back. G35 Sedan has a trunk with a lid all the way around below the glass. A Sedan should be stronger then the same chassis in a hatch. Not sure if the G35 is stronger then the 350Z.

From the designers of the 2 cars, they stated the Z was more rigid then the 2 with the Z being like a raw metal tennis racket and the G being more focused on sublte more softer display. I mean if u have driven the 2 it doesnt take a rocket science to see that a Z is hella more raw and rough then a G. Not to mention the front strut bars etc even the wheels are closer to the driver in the Z making more of a sports car then the sports coupe which is a G. You cant go wrong with both but i would say that the Z would be the stronger just based on the designers say.
