Default mod-ability G37

does anyone know how well the 'mod-ability' for the G37 is? both performance mods and aesthetic mods. I dont currently own a Z, but will be trading my 08 Lancer GTS for either a 07/08 Z or an Evo X.. until I saw the G37 coupe in person today. it looked extremely attractive in person and the interior also looked luxurious. what i want to know is how good is this car for mods?

i know the Z is very mod-friendly, has lots of parts out already and i can easily convert it with my own taste and preferences so that it doesnt look / drive like every other Z. i also know the evo X is coming out with some performance mods already in Japan and im sure there will be more to come in the future.

thanks in advance for any input...

Nothing existed for us when the G35 came out. In fact, Infiniti was pretty adamant about us not messing with "luxury" status of the vehicle (per the dealers)

We borrowed and stole from the Z a/m world

Those of us with sedans, well... let's just say our knees are still healing from all the begging.

It's about what you want to do with your ride. Everything is moddable, but is it necessary and what's your reason? Performance, style, individuality...etc.

If you want something, get on the phone and start the relationships. Call companies that make something for the G35 that you like and see if they need a test car to make it for the G37. Join a team with connections. Be prepared to spend some $$, or be without your car for a period of time if you want something bad enough and want to be the first. Whatever you decide to do, good luck, we'll keep an eye out for your updates.

oh i forgot to mention.. i am considering the coupe version

the only reason for me considering the G37 is the better interior (compared to most sport coupes at this price range). Most die-hard tuners i know could care less for the interior, but i am by no means a hardcore mod specialist.
i only look to put a handful of performance parts which would make my car more 'fun' and better suited to my driving style as a daily driver. No plans for big turbos / etc and I dont track vehicles. Exterior mods will only be to enhance the look of the vehicle (to show a bit more individuality)

though some may find this superficial, but looks is quite important to me. and the G coupes have always annoyed me with one part which is the front chrome grille. i know luxury cars like to have chrome (or so manufacturers think) but i really dislike any sort of chrome on my vehicle. anyone know if the grill can actually be removed / changed?

Make sure you don't confuse "lots of mods available" with "performance mods that are worth the money and make a difference". It sounds like you'd be happy with a body kit and maybe some suspension tweaks which would make the G37 an excellent choice for you. But if you're looking to spend a few hundred and reap massive performance gains, the Z/G is not the platform you want.

A Z/G is a great choice if you're ok with the performance and simply want to dress it up a bit to your personal tastes.

The G/Z have never been great to modification; they are very expensive & yield little power for the price.

I'm sure the G37 will have a large of a market as the 1st Generation G35's & 350Z's. But it will take time for the market to expand to such a level.

Goodluck!

performance? go for the evo x. Well no one really knows yet but i think it'll still be fairly cheap to gain lots of hp from that turbo'd mivec. luxury g37.
