Im wondering if this will work if i have that cd error. Or does the CD player need to be working in order for this to work? THanks

it plugs in and tells the head unit that a multi-disc changer is attached - h/u then switches btn cd changer and internal cd by the cd button

so yes - happy ipodding...

[assumptions, no ext cd changer or sat radio plugged in the back port]
