Default Navigation Install

Does anyone know if it's possible to just take the housing unit of the navagation and install in the coupe and after hooking it up it will still slide up and down without the OEM LCD screen?
I wanted to hook up the housing to an aftermarket GPS and having the unit slide open and closed would be a good idea (can't be seen).

Thx...

I'm keeping the stock head unit...I don't have nav now...I only want to hide my aftermarket GPS and wonder if its at all possible to install the OEM LCD mount/bracket so that it will slide up when I turn the engine on...
