Dyno comparison for G37 vs. Genesis
I thought this was interesting... Edmunds took both cars to the same dyno (at different times, though).
The peak HP between 5 - 7k rpm are about the same... but the peak torque of the Hyundai is significantly better and flatter (about 20+ ft-lbs). I would bet a 370Z dyno would be almost the exact same as the G37 dyno. Interesting...

Compared to the 3.7 in the G37???
That's... let's see... only 2.7% more displacement? No big deal.
Bottom line, even though the G37 makes a little more power waayyy up top, the Genesis torque numbers are impressive.
I still don't want one, but it IS interesting... I have always said the new 3.7 liter was a let-down, considering VVEL and all the other goodies... HP is nice but the torque is uninspiring. Nissan needs to get to work on DFI, pronto.
For better comparison, the HP curve up top mimics the G37, but here is the Genesis Torque overlayed in green:

Luckily, Edmunds did do a head-to-head dyno comparison chart shown below.
The VQ37VHR makes much better top-end power (where it matters in WOT acceleration). But the Hyundai 3.8 makes great low-end power which is great for DD. I find it a little suspicious though because the VQ37VHR has been proven over and over to have a flat torque line from 2500 to almost redline.

GUYS!!!
That is NOT a dyno of a Genesis Coupe!
The dyno clearly says its a 335i. As in a BMW 335i with twin turbos. Edmunds compared it on the dyno to the g37. They also did that with the g37 and genesis coupe , but that is not this dyno.
Did you guys really think the genesis with its naturally aspirated 3.8l would make 280 lb feet of torque at the rear wheels at 3000 rpm?
