Default Some quick questions

Hey guys, how is everyone doing? I've been a reading member for a while due to that "horrible body shop 350z" story that was floating around. I actually bought a g35 sedan this past christmas, and now I am looking to do some upgrades. So... I have a few questions

First my car -> 05 sedan, AT, every option available sans X package.

1) I heard through the grapevine that adding power mods can actually cause the computer to retard timing and actually lower power? I would certainly understand this on a turbo car, adding every bolt on and upping the boost, but... for simple bolt ons?

2) Here is what im looking to get ->

1) some kind of intake, probably AEM (have had good experience with them)
2) headers and cat back exhaust. Cant find a cheap enough cat delete or high flow cat, and I refuse to pay 800 bucks for them... Maybe i'll just get a hack saw and welder and see where I can go with it haha.
3) intake manifold spacer

3) I know Im not gonna have a rocket, and I have my other car for that (FULLY built miata, I'll get you guys info on that later, its pretty sick). I am looking for cost effective power adding options. Feel free to inform me of your suggestions

4) I notice I have different rims then other g35 sedans roaming around here. They arent the super nice 19's on the coupes, but they look a lot better then the other ones I've seen. 7 spoke rims if that helps.

thanks for my siklly questions

1. you'll be fine with bolt-on NA mods. you should think about getting an osiris tune after you've done all the breather stuff (plenum, plenum spacer, headers, HFCs, catback exhaust).
2. a) AEM, fujita, injen - all pretty much the same.
2. b) unless you do the work yourself, headers could easily cost you over 800. used ones go for +300 on here and driver, and the install is a PITA. Most folks say they aren't worth it ($ / hp gained) unless you're planning to go FI in the future.
2. c) get the motordyne 5/16" spacer. you don't have a revup engine so you don't need the mrev2 that motordyne also sells.
3. plenum spacer, intake, exhaust, high flow cats, osiris tune.
4. a lot of 1st gen sedan owners get the OEM coupe 19s. they're forged, look pretty good, and fit the sedans nicely. you can find a set used in the marketplace on g35driver.com (you should sign up over there if you haven't already).

Questions are generic. Could have spend the past 10 months researching for answers.

You could have spent the past 10 minutes being constructive.

To the OP, sign up on g35driver.com if you haven't already. You'll find the folks over there much more willing to answer questions.
