Default Changing G35c compass to the Z digital speedometer

I had to trade in my Z for a G35c due to the unexpected future arrival of our first child.

THe G35 is a great car, but there are several things I already miss about the Z... the thing that I miss the most is the digital speedometer atop the dash.

On the G35, there is a digital compass in nearly the exact same place.

What I would love to do, and would need significant advice on how, would be to get rid of the compass and replace it with a digital speedometer.

I have both shop manuals on pdf for the Z and the G35c... From what I can tell, it appears that the G35 does transmit the vehicle speed to several different processors. I just would not know where to begin on something like this, and I would appreciate some guidance.

Thanks!

I have no clue, but I dont think its gonna be easy. youd have to make the LCD screen understand the input... Im thinking that wont be easy.

ares,

Thanks for the reply...

How about putting in the "Z" speedo LCD, or some aftermarket LCD that could be made to fit in the same slot?

Getting a digital speedometer in that slot is what I am primarily interested in... I do know that that the speed is being digitized and communicated to several components of the CAN. I just dont know where to begin in the process of finding that data and making use of it.
