Default End of my G35

71 year old man t-boned me yesterday...

He tried to make a left turn across 4 lanes of traffic (where left turns are illegal) because the guy in the right lane was turning right where he was pulling out...

Anyway... I'm pretty sure its totaled, passenger side is pretty much destroyed, front wheel is just hanging on.

The meticulous care I took of it is for not, as I'm pretty sure the "value" his insurance company will assign will not come close to getting me back in a comparable G35.

I was planning on driving it for as long as possible, had no intentions of getting rid of it so now I have no idea what to replace it with. Not sure if I should try to find a G35 that is in as good of shape or find something else.

Any strategies when dealing with insurance company on how to get the most for my car?

Thanks

Get an attorney or a claims specialist. You're already doubting yourself.

If you've got real value in the car get some professional help.

Haven't gotten pictures yet, will try this afternoon.

Was a 2003 with 104k miles all options. Book value looks like 12-13k...

Intrinsically was worth much more, 12k can barely get me in a used civic now...

That's why I have GAP insurance. I had GAP insurance on my '04 G when it got totalled and was able to replace it with a brand new '06 G.

Sorry to hear about your loss. If I was in your shoes today, I would replace my G35 coupe with a gently used '06 or newer G35 coupe, or would possibly transition to a different car platform. I don't like the G37 coupe, so I wouldn't consider a new G coupe again until I see how the next gen G coupe model changes in terms of styling, weight, and performance.

there is a custom car appraisal service I will try to find it for you... when my scca car got stolen I was offered 4k dollars for my "2000 honda civic" from my car insurance company. I wound up getting like 17k after everything was said in done. although that couldn't rebuild how much was in it, it was definately a good start for my next platform.

try searching car appraisal services, if you have good documentation and pictures they can help. I will try to reply within the next 24 hours with the company name and contact info. I am at work now or I would have it infront of me.

Don't sweat this... Find a professional.

Get signed up ASAP. The insurance companies will try to run you out.

The only thing I could tell you is to convey to the insurance company you want replacement value.. not book value.. Being in the car industry I see all the time where a car is worth more than it books for.. So, if you find a replacement in cali for example you will need fees for inspection, and shipping to "Replace" what was taken from you..

here is your side.. you don't want just Any G35... yours was meticulas.. etc.. etc.. you will have to find one that is in as nice a shape as yours was.. its not your fault thier driver totalled yours.. also, if they don't total it out, make sure your compensated for the loss in value with the carfax/autocheck accident on it.. usually declines in value about 5-10%..

Good luck
Eric

Adjuster called, its totaled.

Now comes the fun part. I'm putting together my analysis of the value based upon replacement cost using autotrader to find a similar G35 with the options I had and garage kept, maintained to the level mine was maintained.

Will have my counter value ready once they make their initial (i'm sure low ball) offer.

Depending upon how receptive they are with my offer will determine if I get an attorney. So far quick looks on autotrader show that it is going to take 20-25% more than "book value" to replace.

Got pictures, will upload soon, adjuster said quick look put the damage over 16k so there was no point in continuing adding up the cost.

I hope it works out for you man. A good friend of mine was t-boned in his c5 vette. He had a lot of money in the car with aftermarket parts, when the insurance company offered him book value he took the car to a local performance shop an got a quote for what it would cost to build another vette with the same parts. After it was all said and done he ended up getting enough to cover a car of similar value plus the aftermarket parts on it. GL op. Don't settle until you get a settlement you are ok with.

Wouldn't mind getting into a GTR, but I really didn't want to spend lots of money on a car anytime soon.

I uploaded a few pictures to my profile album "Wrecked".

The picture from the driver side shows the condition I kept my car in...

The front wheel on the passenger side is just held in place by the weight of the car, so the suspension I'm sure is toast.

Looks great from the driver side though!

For those of you who have ever had to get an attorney in a similar situation, what is a typical fee?

Will it be greater than the difference in value I will get for my car?

I've done my analysis and have arrived at the number I expect and am still waiting for their initial offer. I've already begun researching attorneys, must are paid upon receipt of awarded settlement. I am curious if anyone has done this before and what the fee was.

Thanks

Go to the hospital every day with a different complaint until they offer you enough to replace your car. If you don't screw them over, you're going to get screwed over. You're probably going to have some pain anyway, so milk it. People will tell you that's insurance fraud, blah blah blah... but from what I've seen and experienced, there is no other way to be treated even close to fairly once someone kills your car.

If you don't get a settlement, you're going to end up with a car with twice the miles and/or several years older. Why? Not b/c your car was worthless but b/c insurance is a ****ing scam.

Have you ever negotiated anything before?

I assume so. In that case you'll want to create a ceiling
Of value for the negotiation. This is the absolute maximum
That your car is worth. This should include current high retail
Price + retail price of every upgrade ever installed.

That number should be Padded with rental costs and any additional
Extraneous costs associated with replacing the car in its entirety.

This should be a firm number. Do not present a breakdown unless asked.

You must push the process as you will be stalled.

Pm me w any specifics.
