that some (not all) G35 owners think thier crap don't stink? I was driving home tonight and saw a really nice looking G35 coupe, almost the same color as my Z (mine is silverstone). I caught up rather easily with him and waved very friendly to him. First off the guy was wearing a business suit and i was wearing BDU's (battle dress uniform) and he got this disgusted look on his face like "how dare you wave at me". Not quite sure if he was disturbed by the uniform or the fact i had a better car than his. Oh well, just needed to vent a bit.
easy nuff:
Most dudes are insecure they start to worry when someone waves at them for no reason.
I for sure wouldn't wave back unless I knew it was something obvious like "we have similar cars!"
There are alot of nuts on the road that will mess with you just to mess with you.
Good chance the ***** didn't know why you were waving at him. I know alot of so called "car enthusiasts" that don't see the connection between the Z and G.

I have found the opposite to be true, I will roll up next to a z owner in my sedan and talk to them and they are absolutely convinced their car is a whole lot diferent than theirs.
I just don't know about stupid people

Having owned both cars, i see both sides of the story. I get a lot of evil stares in the g35 from z owners, whereas almost all z owners would wave at me when i owned my z (sometimes even other cars). I was once approached out of nowhere by some late 20's woman gawking at my car asking me a million questions about it. If my girlfriend wasn't sitting next to me ready to blow a fuse i'd have carried that conversation a bit further.
It feels like i betrayed my own family or something
The g35 guys are no different. Evidently they know how to differentiate between an auto and 6mt (they stare at my wheels for the brakes i assume) most of the ones i see are autos, however all they do is stare down and drive away. I think there are more enthusiasts among the Z owners than with the G owners. Oh well

Owning both cars, I get lots of wierd looks when I wave at folks in one or the other, and you should really see their faces when I forget I'm driving my S-10!
That being said, I think a lot more non-enthusiasts buy the G than the Z. I met a young idiot doctor at my sister-in-laws wedding in Los Angeles with a DG Coupe. I asked if he was an enthusiast or just like the car. He said he just liked it. When I told him I had the Z and G, and talked a little about the cars, he told me he had a special clutchless manual transmission, with an automatic shifting option. Especially in southern cal, these are the types you are dealing with.

... "special" clutchless manual transmission... oh that is grand... LOL
I used to wave at Z owners until I got the WTF do you want look too often. Now I don't bother waving to them at all, unless they wave at me first. Then I know for sure its a fellow enthusiast that knows the two cars are pimp.
I've actually met a couple of my350Z while on the road. I think it would depend who is driving. I've run into other G35 coupe drivers that give me a "big deal, we have the same car..." look. Can't be car dependant, because at the same time 911 and supra turbo drivers have given me a nod.

I think being in a totally stock Z or G is different than a modded one. The other tuners on the street will give you more props if you have visible mods. I'm sure once I get my 19" LE37's, I'll get mad props. Now they just hear my insanely loud exhaust.
I also noticed that around where i work... there are a lot of old men driving around Z's and Z convertibles. They all have this ****-retentive "i have a sports car and you don't" look. There was this one time where I was in my coworkers camry going out for lunch, and we saw this Z next to us. He gave us this "psh, stupid kids" look and sped off, grinding 2nd gear in the process! If only he knew that I had the same car he did. Some people think they are too good for anyone. There are a LOT of g35 owners around here as well. The sedan owners are totally indifferent to my presence, but the coupe owners look over and grin or nod. I guess owning a g35 isn't that special anymore
to me drivers of both g35/350z were either friendly or just didn't care.
I think one time a 350z guy in the blue. I waved at him he just ignored me like I wasn't even there.. it happened to G35 too but mostly it was all women driver for the g35..
I always look at 350Z and G35 try to see if the driver will appreciate salute. If they don't look so enthusiastic about their car, I just don't anything.

It's funny how different a 350Z and a G35 owner reacts with each others cars. I think both cars are just too cool to look at on the road. I've seen a few moded Z's where I work. I see a few G35 coupes but not moded. I give nod to G and Z owners all the time don't really care if they acknowledge back or not. I figured if they are cool they will wave back at me.
I don't really pay attention to other drivers unless their doing something stupid on the road. I couldn't tell ya if someone has waved at me before or flipped me off. I pretty much just mind my own business when I'm driving. Too many weirdos out there anyway.
