Why is it.....
Come on now, no need to start putting down the G. If you were to ask me, I'd say the Z was the lesser car ... no sunroof, heated seats, etc. To each his own. I give thumbs up to nice cars I see. If some random guy were to wave at me, I'd probably give them a weird look too. Now, a thumbs up is a different story. To me, a thumbs up can only mean "you have a nice car." A wave can mean one of many things, and that's something I'd rather not have to deal with. Now attention from women is a different story.
usually give a thumbs up to another z driver, don't see many 35c's. usually hold my breath after thumbsup to a z...if they want to race...well between to stock z's it's who's the bigger fool...
I've found the opposite. "Z" owners usually ignore me if I wave, or want to race. Some "G" owners do the same thing. Maybe it's me and not the car.
My Point - Maybe it is the owners, and not the car. "Z" owners tend to be younger and more aggressive. "G" owners, older and more conservative. I have never seen a female in a "Z". But, I've seen them in "Gs". What the heck does that say about me?
But, seriously folks, I love my "G", and like the "Z". Wave at me, I'll wave back.

Unfortunately, we can't make it a requirement that people pass a "cool test" before purchasing a G. (or a Z, or an M3, etc...) And some people consider cars an appliance to get them from point A to point B, so they could give care less about the ties between the G and Z. Enthusiast drivers are still a small percentage of the general driving public. I give the few other G and Z drivers I encounter a wave or nod. If they don't give one back, f*ck 'em.

I see a few G35 coupes but not moded. I give nod to G and Z owners all the time don't really care if they acknowledge back or not. I figured if they are cool they will wave back at me.

that some (not all) G35 owners think thier crap don't stink? I was driving home tonight and saw a really nice looking G35 coupe, almost the same color as my Z (mine is silverstone). I caught up rather easily with him and waved very friendly to him. First off the guy was wearing a business suit and i was wearing BDU's (battle dress uniform) and he got this disgusted look on his face like "how dare you wave at me". Not quite sure if he was disturbed by the uniform or the fact i had a better car than his. Oh well, just needed to vent a bit. [/QUOT

I guess it's harder in my situation cause a lot of my driving is done at night and with a lot of Z and G owners tinting their front windows, it's almost impossible to see what the driver's doing. For all I know, the Z driver could be flipping me off. haha. But no encounter so far of any Z,G drivers waving at me or giving me the thumbs up...maybe people in southern california tend to be non-enthusiasts.
Maybe it's LA, but it's rare that I'll see friendly people in any car, and they're too busy talking on cell phones, cutting off people, and driving like morons to wave. I think it's just the people. Don't blame a car for its owner's stupidity.
LA does have its share of enthusiasts, but with so many people here, and so many beautiful cars on the road, you'll see a lot more "status-symbol" or "it's just a car" drivers mixed in with the enthusiasts. (When I had my old car, I was of the "it's just a car" variety.. the g35 and the 350z just do something to you)
