Thumbs up Added Spacers

First I'd like to thank 2003Z and BillR for all the help and advice concerning this project. I added 1 inch spacers last night to my coupe. It came out great. This offset I have now is probably the most aggresive I've heard so far but pictures do it no justice. Check out some befor and afters. I started out with +37 on 8.5 fronts and +41 on 10 rear. 1 inch roughly shaves off 25mm or so. You would think they would stick out like a sore thumb but they actually came out JUST RIGHT!!!

BEFORE #1
Notice how tucked the wheels were...The spokes were so close to the Brembos they made me nervous. Probably 1mm away.

After #2
Check out how nice the fronts came out...Nearly flush with the fenders. I wouldn't try this with 20' though. 19's are perfect.

I used the one's you told me about. However since about a week ago I went back a step. My balance was off and I can't stand that. I think I need hubcentric and it probably would've been ok. I sold my GT3's. Will gett ne wheels with the correct offset before the summer.

Be careful with spacers. They do a number of things like put more load on the wheel bearings and they may actually create vibration from being unbalanced if not hubcentric.

The spacer should have a raised center to mate up to center the wheel properly.

Furthermore, when you use spacers, you might move the centerline of the wheel outward from the pivot-point of the steering. (depends on whether or not you change the wheel offset with aftermarket wheels) That means you're swinging the wheels around the pivot-point rather than rotating them on the axis of the pivot-point. I imagine this would put more stress on the steering system, hubs, and suspension.

I agree with Washujon! Spacers shift the loading of the wheel quite a bit. With spacers you are making a change to the complete suspension geometry and thus the handling of the car and you are adding to the unsprung weight of the car...which is a negative in terms of handling. Ever see those cars on the side of the road with a wheel collapsed under the car. Spacers can cause that.

Be careful.

see jreed only if you listened to me when i told you to. sell the 19's that were on the Z and get some 20's for the G. i tell you, some people heads are like bricks. just don't ride with me on the road because i'll make you car look bad. hehehehehe j/k but you do need to get rid of the 19's and get some more lip. also with your wheels sticking out that far wait until you put some tire shine on them, that stuff will be all over the side of your car.

So...which ones were those? 1" front and rear?

And Vic...do you know if that Japanese page is showing 1" spacers, those wheels look sooo much better! I really want to do this, but am loathe to disrupt my car's mechanicals. Still researching for myself.

Your G looks nice bud.
