Are you really this confused??
Nissan skyline = Infiniti G35
skyline is a full range similar to the 3 series.
there is a 4 door skyline
a coupe skyline
and a perfomance oriented skyline (gt-r)
The new gt-r's will no longer be called skyline and they will not be the same shape as the skyline coupe (g35 coupe) anymore. However, the g35 is a skyline in Japan.

back on topic though...i guess yall do have some valid points about the Skyline name being carried. the way i understood it is that Nissan was using the G to replace all Skyline models...GTR, GTS, and non-turbo. it's just that the G35 doesnt seem "Skyline" to me. especially when it shares a lot of features with the 350. it seems more like a luxury car than a sports car. you would think that they couldve at least used a different, more powerful motor besides the VQ (it does have the VQ right?)

Before even getting to end of this thread (and seeing that RainmanZ had already closed it) I banned iChiBahn for his behavior. Attitude such as that will not be tolerated. I second RainmanZ's apologies to those who know how to post like adults.
