V35 - Nissan GT-R Concept
Do not want to continue the smoking ruins of the "Skyline" thread, just found a site from a friend that reaffirms the cool stuff Nissan comes up with!
Who knows if they will ever build it...

Check out the article, pretty interesting speculation:

"Nissan says, the stage of design is similar to that of the Z-Car when it was first introduced as a concept, so detail changes to the exterior are very likely. Hopefully Nissan won’t change too much.
The engine choice is still much of a speculation. Rumors vary between turbo-charged V6 and V8 or normally aspirated V8 (at least for international markets), which are expected to produce between 335hp and 450hp. Unfort-unately, the days of the fabulousRB26DETT appear to be counted, but at least the new car will continue to useATTESA, the GT-R’s computer-controlled all-wheel-drive system. New for the coming GT-R will be variable damping control for the suspension and a paddle-shift six-speed gearbox."
If they reworked the FX-45 V8 they might just have the engine...the Altessa drive is already used in the 300+ flywheel hp FX, it's a pretty fun rig to drive. Imagine if it lost 1000 lbs or so.

Nice post SteveZ - I hadn't yet seen the interior shot - that looks very interesting .... what's going on there with that console?
I don't necessarily dislike it and I understand it's a concept and Nissan might just be trying an idea out, but geez, I have never seen something like that (I know - I've led a sheltered existence!)
From the latest rumors (again, the operative word is RUMOR) I have heard Nissan is going to stay true to the twin turbo tradition of the G35. The other stuff I have heard is that they are using the Porsche Turbo as a benchmark - equal or better its' speed and handling for mucho less yen/dollars.)
I have heard 400-450 HP and similar or greater torque. If they have less, they will really have to lighten the car up for it to match/beat a Porsche Turbo (if that rumor is true anyway!) Maybe they will try some hybrid technology with combination electric/combustion engines to give more power - after all they have leased that technology from Toyota, right?
My guess is that the GT-R will come over here as an Infiniti - at least it seems logical that something that will cost that much would be an Infiniti in the USA. Oh yeah .... cost!
I have heard the figure 70K being thrown about as a possible cost. I hope it stays close to this although 2007 (really 2006 since the car should be available in the fall/winter of that year) is a long ways away and who knows what inflation will bring? At 70K the GT-R would really undercut the NSX and the German high-performance cars. Heck, it would even threaten the current high-performance value leader, the Corvette!
For those all bent out of shape that the SKYLINE is not longer a true Skyline - please visit Nissan's Japan site and see the history of the Skyline - it goes WAY back before the GT-R and includes all different kinds of trims and models. Not just a performance car. The GT-R is becoming its' own model - the Skyline is now a different model.
Why does it matter - it's only a name (not a feature or technology that would really mess up the GT-R - like if they went to a V8 or dropped ATESSA!)

P.S. There is nothing wrong about talking CIVILLY about the G35 and its' relation with the GT-R. I wrote this much and didn't insult anyone (except maybe myself! !) Just because someone else decided to act like a child doesn't mean most of us will.

Cool.
It would be more like a Vette or actually more like a BMW with the V8, not what I'd like to see, the Z06 is a great car, let it have its space and Nissan go elsewhere.
I'm outta my depth to say whether the VQ series 6 could do the HP, but it sure seems like the logical choice. Or some derivative or the same, they didn't leave a lot on the table for tuners it seems...
I agree it would have to lose some weight, since even a TT version would add on some pounds. The 70k number makes that a lot easier, it's hard to use all the materials you want at <40k.
That said, Nissan still impresses with their use of materials on a sub 40k sports car with all the cast Al and composites. They may toss a lot of plastic in the interior, but they put a lot into the places where it counts when you want to sell a base vehicle sports car for less than 30k USD.
Should be interesting - you know they won't likely sit still with a Roadster Z (cool as it is) for another 3-5 years.
No disrespect for BMW owners out there, but having driven an M3 and truly respecting its great power and rev happy engine, Nissan has really come through for 20k less with a much more personal driving machine.
I feel like I'm driving an IS300 with more engine when driving the M3 - it's not Sports Car position.
The 350Z and the G35 have maintained that "I'm in the middle of this car" feeling, even with a few more inches off the ground for the driver position than the 350Z.
OT Photo: Clouds in the Headlight Lens, just a nice photo.

point is...why display pics of a car that will not likely look anything like that in production form...especially when the pics are so old.

good to see we have someone on the board who knows what the production car will look like... thank god finally someone from the "inside"
YAP.... and to someone who finds something for the first time, its new to them, to you maybe not (obviously not actually) but he mentioned "no flames please" good thing your still into comics there bob.
I like it and hope they produce it close to the pics. Since there is still speculation on it, the topic is relevant for discussion and questions/answers.

I agree. It needs some work - 3/4 view rear looks good, front view is not so hot.
