Question What kind of fees to 'order' the car at the dealership?

I've looked at my needs/wants and have decided the perfect G35 for me is the bone stock cloth coupe. Problem is, there's only two dealerships within 150 miles and neither of them have the car i would like listed in their inventory. So i wanted to arm myself with some info before i go and ask the actual dealer. Edmunds says people are paying like $29, 500 for the bone stock G35, so how much would that go up if i wanted to order it in? What kind of markup should i expect?

You shouldn't have to pay any markup on an ordered coupe. Matter of fact, you should be able to get a discount (a few $$ under MSRP) on a bone stock coupe with cloth interior since the demand for this configuration is apparently low.

Be prepared for some dealers to refuse to order a 'strippy' car. A stripped car has the least amount of profit so most dealers would rather save what open orders they do have for more profitable requests. Who can blame them, they're getting top dollar and more for the G35 coupes, at least in California.

Good Luck

I think i'd agree with you if i was talking about a Z, but there isn't really that many 'options' on the G35 since it's so well packed with awesome standard features. I don't want leather, nav, or aerokit. The rest of the stuff is nickel-and-dime. I definately see where you're coming from though, and hope that the dealer would be willing to order one for me... The dealerships in KC and in Springfield neither have coupes without leather. Hell, i'd pay for the aero if they had one with nothing but the aero package...

You will probably not get a discount, but there is no way you should have to pay extra. A $1000 refundable deposit is typical for a dealer placed order. You can try to negotiate a lower price than MSRP, but there aren't any guarantees. Some dealers might not want to order a base coupe, but they are basically guaranteed a sale if they do. Its winter too, so the demand will be lower now (depending on where you live) so that will be on your side.
