2003 G35C issues
hello,
the 03 Zs seemed to have some issues (expected on 1st year cars). Would it be safe to assume the 03 g35 coupes shared the same problems of the 03 Zs like tire feathering, glass tranny, power windows, bose sounding like a Radio shack tweeter....?
thx!

G35 has every problem the Z has except tire feathering. And some say that with softer tires the G would feather as well (note I don't know if I believe this or not). They have had window streaks, tranny grinds, and the bose system sucks every bit as badly in the G35 (although the g35's acoustics are better b/c it has no hatch).
Sorry but the G and the Z share too many parts for there to be any real difference in terms of quality/reliability. That said, the Z is actually quite good - don't take my word for it, try consumer reports...if you don't believe 'em, buy one for yourself and find out.

"softer" tires? It's already understood that the OEM tires on the Gc are better than the Z's, likely much reason why the Gc's slalom and skid pad numbers are better than the Z. I have not heard once of any G having a feathering problem.
Yes, some G's have had their transmissions replaced as well. It seems to me that 50% of Bose owners don't like it. Possible grease streak reocurring on the inside front windows as mentioned above. Others have complained about brake pad life although that's not really a mechanical problem, more of a design (pad compound) issue. I believe that one is mostly non-Brembo, especially since Infiniti is covering those under warranty until 30k miles, excluding 6MT Brembo cars. Early cars also had a jiggly headlight issue and a pull to the right, compression rod issue. We'll see if these things are really fixed as the new cars roll out, all fixes applied already as built. I have a feeling the first 6 months of cars had the most issues but we'll see as things play out.

Exactly that's what I was trying to say - the G has better tires, so they may not feather, if in fact tires are part of the feathering equation. The Pilots are amazing tires - they're fairly hard and resistant to wear (treadwear rating over twice that of the RE040) yet they handle better than the RE040. I agree I believe the tires explain the Gs skidpad/slalom. Can't wait to put a set of pilots on the Z!
