Default Help! Turbo header manifold

So I’m doing a single turbo install on my 2006 g35, and Im making a custom turbo kit for the most part. And don’t tell me it’s easier to just buy a whole kit, because i know it is but i have have most the parts already, but i need a turbo manifold and having trouble finding one that’s not gonna kill my pocket. Also, this is my first turbo build I’m doing myself. Any tips or know where i can get instructions for it ? Thanks !!

Let me guess - 10 other people have told you it'd be easier to simply buy a kit and you didnt like that answer, so you came here and for your first post you are looking for a different answer?

I'm confused ... are you looking for a set of manufactured headers that'll attach to your previously purchased turbo? or are you looking to completely fabricate a set of headers that'll service this single turbo?

What turbo do you have now?

Do you weld?

are you asking for instruction on how to fabricate headers from scratch?

And you dont have much money to do this?

And, you said, this is your first turbo build?

You know that look your dog gives you when you confuse him ... that's how I'm looking at you right now...

there is no such as a single turbo manifold for the VQ35de. You use stock or aftermarket manifolds and a crossover.

This build will not go well....partout

Y’all just go on here to help people ? Or be ignorant ? Obviously i really don’t care about your input on what you think MY build for MY car is. I came for help and asked a question. That does not mean I’m looking for a couple dicks that acts like the created cars to make me look stupid. I stated in my post that this is my first build. And a buddy sold his G35 and has extra turbo parts so i decided why not, I’ll try my first project. Yes i can weld, I’m just not an expert with the turbo manifolds and piping, but obviously I’m not going in knowing nothing. This is just new to me. So please, if someone actually wants to help. I’m doing a single turbo build, somebody said something about a cross over? Fill me in.

What cux said - part everything out and buy a kit...that is the best thing you can do right now - that is the help. Very very very few people have fabricated headers themselves and the ones that have, have years (if not decades) of experience in machining, fabricating and welding. Not the guy that absorbed some turbo parts from his buddy.

But if you are "100%-in" than just go do it and show everyone and can be done. Furthermore, it can be done by someone with minimal experience and by someone who has never built a turbo setup before!

we didnt have to 'try' to make you look ignorant - you did a fine job of that yourself with your first post.

Give 'em hell!

You are showing your own lack or research on the topic which is why no one is taking you serious.

You type in large globs of words with 0 pics to show your parts, progress or previous work. We have little faith in you at this point.

But wish you luck in your build.

Dont listen to these guys, they dont know about turbo builds, I have a single turbo on my white nissan and its not a kit and its awesome.

so lets talk a little more about these turbo manifolds, so it seems mine uses a stock manifold. And yours probably could also.

Here is a picture of my car for some added motivation.

jokes on me I miss that red beater truck.

I dont claim that I'm the know all for turbo builds by any stretch of the imagination ... although Im working on my 3rd 'different' FI build on my car (and some might say 5th), I'm working with my 3rd tuning platform, 3rd engine, 5th clutch, 2nd driveshaft, 2nd cooling system - the list goes on.

#1 - stock procharger setup 375psi @ 8psi
#2 - modified procharger setup 455hp @14psi
#3 - stock greddy TT setup ~400hp @ 8psi
#4 - modified greddy TT setup 474hp @ 12psi
#5 - further modified greddy TT setup 568hp @17psi
#6 - single turbo front mount TBD

and furthermore on build #5 I fabricated a one-off set of 3" down pipes (because AAM discontinued theirs) and a 3" to 4" Y-pipe, mated to a one-off aluminum exhaust ... to think I could have done this with zero turbo-build experience and minimal welding/fabricating experience is foolish. Not to mention the OP wants to do headers and/or a rear-mount or mid mount custom setup...on a budget with no experience.

I'm not trying to be a dick but I am trying to be 100% real and to guide the OP down this road that he can create this setup is negligent...

But (as I mentioned before) put your money where your mouth is and show us and prove me wrong! I'll happily conceed that everyone was a beginner at some point (including myself) but I didnt jump into a turbo build day one.

The easiest way to build a custom kit would be to do a rear-mount set-up. So much room where factory muffler goes. You could weld it/fab it all up in a couple days

Welp thanks for the help, will be back to this thread in a couple months when the car is finished. In the time being, y’all can sit around on the site and extort your ignorance some more.

Start the clock!!

A couple of months from now would be January 10, 2019 ... I wanna see a dyno-ready G35 with a single turbo setup ... ready to be fully tuned to hit a modest 400hp

and good job on using big words ...

ignorance is defined as the lack of knowledge while extort is to obtain by force ... so for us to extort our ignorance (obtain by force some lack of knowledge) make zero sense ... but coming from someone with no (aforementioned) knowledge is par for the course... I find it funny!

But seriously ... prove me wrong, prove me stupid, prove me ignorant!

Aside from some headers, it sounds like you have it all figured out. Start a build thread, document your progress, ask the noob questions that noobs ask and we'll all collectively try to help you out.

I'll keep my predictions to myself...

My prediction, if he even gets it running, is that he blows it up or Dugan it

Im still lost on the manifold part, maybe we were all thinking single turbo like a front mount, mid mount, or rear mount.

But he was looking for just a turbo manifold for like a bank 2 mount single.

You dont read or do research, and you insult those that have build these cars years before you when they give constructive criticism. You are some kind of special snowflake. Keep your attitude off of the forum and back on IG and FB with the other useful idiots.

My predictions is he goes through with this with a manufactured header, slops together something that resembles the BP kit, does a mid-mount, and runs a pipe up to an intercooler, with shiny IC pipe with a plethora of couplers up and around to the TB. I don't even want to speculate on a BOV or wastegate OP uses.

I'll speculate he oil starves the turbo and it seizes up or pops the engine when he skimps on a adequate tuning platform and/or a bad tune that he gets from his buddy who sold him the turbo in the first place.

I predict that G35 will end up the same as mine did.
