does the G35c have as many problems as the 350z? Does the G35 have tire feathering and also the paint problems?

 

Aside from the feathering, the two cars basically have all of the same problems. They share a chassis, engine, and transmission...so...it's not that surprising. For what little it's worth, Consumer Reports rated them both well in terms of reliability...so the Zs "problems" may not be profound as they seem here. Mine is too young for me to tell ya what I think. :-)

Can someone please provide a list OR refer to a thread listing all existing problems with G35 (for newbies)?

I completely understand that browsing any car forum will make you think the car is full of problems but thats not the case here. I would just like to get myself educated before making a decision.

 

I'll start:
1. Rattles
2. Short lifed brakes
3. Paint is kind of weak
4. Gas tank that won't fill up all the way on some stations

 

please go into a little greater detail of the weak paint issue. is this why my front bumper is getting peforrated by every single piece of road debris that touches it?

 

If I had to hazard a guess....

There are 2 things at play here. The first is the large surface area of the painted front end will get road debris on it and will chip, as would any car.

The second is that paints on cars now are different than yesteryear thanks to the environmentalists. I wouldn't necessarily blame Nissan for this. I have the same problem in my Audi. But what can I expect with a large, painted front fascia?

I'd look into clear bra or something similar to reduce road rash. Unfortunately, I think it is a fact of life in today's cars.

 

has ne one had their tranny changed for the 03 6mt coupe?? the main reasons were for the car not shifting into 2nd and sometimes 3rd, and for having the whinning noise when idling with the car in neutral and the clutch engaged. most of the people i know w/z's had theirs done already under warranty at the dealer. also has ne one had the problem with the car making the clunking noise from the rear when starting from a stop in 1st gear??

 

i have noticed a slight rattle when starting from a stop and i let off the clutch at a very low rpm. i would be interested in what this is also.

 

i have an appointment with the dealer next thursday, from what i hear i might be getting a new tranny and possibly axles.
