um... How bad did he beat you??
I'd get an aftermarket intake. I opted to go with the z tube and pop-charger. I haven't got the pop charger on but from what I've read they are a good way to go for not too much money. Also, I am probably going to get the Injen ses dual exhaust. IMO it looks the best and the power gains are awesome. You might think about getting ur pully's. I've heard that they give some pretty good gains also. And if you want to get real crazy with it you can get a set of borla headers. Kinda spendy though.

Went to the dealer today and the G35 that I test drove was sporting a Injen cold air intake and a stillen exhaust system. The saleperson told me it had 30-40 horse power gains. Does anyone know the specs on these two items? Does anyone have the Injen exhaust? The brembo brakes are they standard on the fully loaded G35's?
maybe 30-40 to the crank....
and yes loaded g36s come with brembos....at least Iknow all the 6MTs do...
and get used to it...a Z will always beat you unless they cannot drive or you are way equiped because of a thing called WEIGHT!

Crawford plenum, tube/ popcharger -- do the intake first, then if you got the coin, freeflow exhausts
5 speed does nto matter much with the nice transmissions that are out now....with things like manumatic and the quick shifting the autos can do....you cannot just beat one because you have a manual....
so throw that out the window...stock for stock...the Z will beat you

The Z is only 190 heavier from what I've heard. That's not enough of a difference to totally get smoked. So whoever said a Z will smoke you because of the weight difference is not right. I know there are other differences like the intake and a few other things. That makes up the difference.
First, don'r expect huge gains out of a couple bolt-ons. Your biggest problem is actually your slushbox. You need to be manually shifting or the computer will shift each gear too realy. My experience with loaner sedans have shown me you have to tip up from 1st by 5500 rpms or it will hit the rev limiter because the shift program is so lazy. Then instead of spending $1-2K on bolt-ons that won't even add 20 hp to you car, get a bottle instead. Then you will be able to walk those pesky Z's at your leasure.
BTW, if you compare both cars option for option; the Z is only 140 lbs lighter(the actual weight difference between a touring coupe and a G coupe 6MT without a sunroof).

OK, well if you have a TT I can understand that part of the comment, but "any z" you've got to be kidding. The cars are so close that a good G35 driver could beet an average to bad 350Z driver w/o much of a problem. A "few" bolt on's and the guy could gain another 20 or more rwhp (easily) and then the power to weight ratios would be almost dead even.
If I read your sig right, you're packing quite a punch, but a stock 350Z is a stock 350Z. Let's not get too carried away now...
Also, the automatics rule at the drag strip, no room for shifting error, so the guy in the 5AT actually has the advantage (unless he's "manually" shifting at 5000 rpm's
).
Hey I like the Z and the G...and I def agree that 20rwhp would make it easier to run with a Z...but I've yet to see a "few" bolt-ons that give either car 20rwhp. Maybe after a couple grand...but when I think of "few bolt-ons" I think intake+exhaust and maybe a pulley. That rarely equates to 20rwhp on these cars.

. Since I got an advice from LorenG4, I started shifting hard. I tell you all.....there is no freaking delay if you keep the RPM above 5.3. My car is like a totally new car to me......I really do enjoy it even i spent 2.5k. I am waiting to see any Z 350 who wanna get smoked by ME this time PERIOD.
