I have found a way to stay even with new mustang cobra's. I was just messing around with one tonight, and I just wanted to see how fast he was cause he had the loudest exhaust I have heard on a stang. He definitely pulled on me, but not as I expected an extra 100hp would. We both got on it when I was at about 4k in 4th gear; he was definitely pulling on me until he hit 5th which was about 1k rpm before me and his car bogged a little and we were dead even even after I hit 5th. I really do love our short gears!

I hope this wasn't a fluke, but it was damn fun anyways.

 

No way in hell could you hang with a mustang cobra. He must've not known how to drive. Sorry to be the first to put you down here.

 

I doubt it was a supercharged cobra. Maybe a 99, they are only running high 13's stock. Some are getting mid 13's but with good drivers.

 

I agree, i could not hang with the 03 cobra, that 400hp moves. He pulled on me from the start when i got to 5th he was over a car lenth in front. If i had FI then it would have been the other way around

 

Same here, all I said is 5th gear in the stangs suck bad enough to where we had even acceleration. And you would have to be stupid to mistake a new cobra with an old one. It was the new body style and it said cobra on the rear bumper and side emblem. By the way, he definitely pulled on me like hell but at the same speed he was in fifth and I was in fourth gear. Tat is how I stayed. Thanks for the support guys!?!?

 

well, just so you know, the 99 cobra looks identical to the new one (except the hood is different), but only was rated at 320 hp and really only dnyoed showing about 305 at the crank.

One with mods would be a very close race with a 350z. An 03+ Cobra with 390 crank HP (Really close to 450 crank) would have walked you so easy even in fifth it wouldn't be funny. That is why people are doubting the story.
