Personally, the g35 is a much better value car. Its faster and looks much better than the outdated 3 series.

The BMW has that German feel to it that the g35 can't compare to, but if you do decide to get a 3 series, get the resigned model.

Dude, that's why I'm driving one today. I never really considered it seriously until I test drove it and that basically sold me on it. Came back a week later and placed my order.

 

I'm a Bimmer guy but I just couldn't justify paying the extra $5K or so for a 330Ci or 330iPP. The BMWs have great driving dynamics and feel a bit more nimble than the G35. Also, the BMW's straight-six is a lot smoother in the upper rev range than the VG35. The interior of the Performance Package BMWs with the Alcantera (faux suede) trimmed seats and steering wheel, carbon fiber-look trim, and red-needled gauges looks trick IMHO. But the power advantage of the G35, along with the styling, is what won me over. And the other's comments on the additional attention you get in the G is true. I get compliments/questions regarding the G every few days or so. Both are great cars and I would definitely consider a heavily discounted 330Ci with the Performance Package. I don't believe you can go wrong either way.
