We have an opportunity to work with a real OEM factory to manufacture polyurethane Nismo replica bumpers. Basically the tooling has already begun on these bumpers, but the original buyer has backed out due to lack of money (after paying the deposit).

That's right, this GB is for: Polyurethane (OEM type) Replica Nismo Front Bumper

The tooling is not cheap, (over $20K) but the material and tooling method used is excellent, it's basically the same OEM material used by many Japanese auto makers and a factory which contracts directly to these OEM automakers.

At this point, we can pickup the project but because of the high fixed cost we would like to open it up for a group buy and proceed if there is enough interest.

The group buy terms would be as follows:

1. $399/bumper + shipping MSRP (~$600)
2. Guaranteed OEM quality bumper.
3. 2 month delivery lead time after group-buy is completed and deposits are paid
4. 50% deposit at time of completion of group buy
5. 25 people group buy (we need 20 people to make this happen, but in our experience, people tend to drop out when deposits are requested).

If the tooling is still in the works, leave out the indentation for the burger (emblem). I'd be interested in this, however I would also be concerned with putting a deposit on something that is still in the tooling stages. What guarantee would we have on this bumper? If we eventually get the piece and then have problems with it, such as fit, could we return it for a complete refund?

 

Does it have to have the Front lip?

Redfoot - I'm sure we can leave out the indentation in the front bumper. Regarding the fitment, we will gaurantee the fitment. Because it is a PU tooling, basically we will receive prototype components for test fitment, and the factory will modify the tooling as many times as needed to ensure a perfect fit. All GB participants will be kept updated as to the developments. We will also full refunds in the event that the product does not turn out as planned.

Enzo Driver - Yes it has the pre-molded front lip like the Nismo front bumper.

$400 sounds like a great price for PU. I can't wait to hear how fitment works out. How are they going to keep the grill center bar from bowing?

I wish they had this bumper cover before I'd spent tunza $ on CF Nismo and US spec. Nismo lips.

I have the CF NISMO front bumper.....it's supported by the small license plate mount jsut above the bar. I thought it would be fragile, also. When I had my bumper painted, I left the mount CF, so it would not stand out. I would imagine just painting that piece black.

I have that too. My question was how the bar would be supported on a urathane version, which will require more support (such as a metal beam) to keep the unsupported segments straight.

this is just an idea, but not only use the square bracket that is where the tow hook hole is, have the center bar be a solid piece and use a strong mesh grill screen like a grillcraft (those are pretty strong) and find a way to have the center beam be attached to that screen. that should keep it pretty straight.
