Default CPE MAFci System (My Car Proto-Type)

Well I’m proud to announce Custom Performance Engineering (CPE) has chosen my Z to be the proto-type car in their research and development of a MAFci System for the 350z. CPE is located in Beltsville MD and is very well known through out the Mazda community for accomplishing great numbers (Gains) with their MAFci System. I met with Josh and the rest of his team last night at their shop, and I got to tell you…these guys are great, very knowledgeable group of guys which gives me full confidence to hand my FairladyZ over to them for development. Hopefully if all goes well we should see a prototype in a few weeks. If you would like to learn more about CPE go to www.cp-e.com and check out company info and also check out the dyno graphs tell me what you think. All in All I’m very excited about their product Idea and can’t wait to see some results. That’s all for now, but I will keep the forum posted on progress.

So basically this is an intake, with A/F tuning software.

The STi system comes with an intake and a preset fuel map. $579.00

Hmm... interesting. What happens when you run a different ECU?

Seems like a waste of money to me.

To answer your question on running another ECU,

If you simply want to run a different ECU and keep the MAFci you can just zero out the chart and run the other ECU. So you would keep everything installed and just run the other ECU using it to make changes as needed. You would still need to keep the MAFci installed to run the larger diameter mass air housing.

Or
You can also develop a map for that other ECU which works with MAFci System and your all set.

Does this answer your question??

I dont think it will matter what ecu you are running, rather that whatever means they use to tweak for the larger MAF housing be done after your choice of ecu has been made. I guess my question becomes since we can reflash these cars anyway, is their software really a required thing? I can see on the onehand it being needed, in that it is something they set up uniquely for a particular car and the specific diameter housing they use. On the other hand, if the person flashing your ecu has enough knowledge of the various tables and settings you can manipulate within the factory ecu, the only thing that "should" be needed would the their larger housing

Will be interesting to see the results
