Default Exhaust Advice needed

I wanted to upgrade the exhaust on my Z. I wanted to go for a deeper sound but dont want to spend mad money on an exhaust sytem. I was thinking, and please tell me if this isnt a good idea, to have a muffler shop either fab up a dual or single exhaust system and just put mufflers in the end of it. What size pipes should i go with? should it be dual with an h pipe or something, or a sing exhaust? What sounds better? what mufflers do you recommend with the stock cats that will give me a nice sound? Thanks alot, i recenty made an intake for the ride and it sounds much nicer and i notice a little better performance, i may be wrong. Thanks alot.

Very pleased with the Injen SES. Deep sound, good performance gains, fits perfect, mirror finish.

Thanks, but i wanted to know if i can buy a muffler and then get it installed from the catback, like i was thinking about purchasing a Apex'i N1, i just want to know if that is a good idea, and anyone that has done this does it sound good? Just asking, dont really want to spend near 1 grand for an exhaust setup.

My advice is get a real exhaust full cat back and stainless steel to prevent rusting in FL...a buddy of mine with a z in miami welded an hks axleback onto his z and lost 10 whp...

With a catback exhaust or a y pipe back exhaust like the apexi, you will get similar gains. The real factors that matter are what sound/noise level do you want and how much do you want to spend. there are some other exhaust threads with links to exhaust sound clips so you can get a vague idea of what some of them sound like.

Thanks, thats what i thought, the only thing was the noise level, do i care about horsepower, i do, but then again i wanted this car because i like it and i want to put things on it that i would like, be it performance or design. Thanks for the input, might buy a carbon fiber hood instead.

Pay $450 or so for the crawford cats. More gain than just a catback, cheaper, and will make your tone slightly more aggressive.
