I have the crawford cats, and they did make the exhaust a whole louder, but not by much. If anything it got a bit deeper. I do have the injen SES exhaust, with the crawford cats, and it sounds pretty deep, not raspy at all IMO.
so the sound should be similar for you too i would imagine....

I had the R/T's installed with stillen headers & exhaust. They were definitely loud but tough to tell which exhaust component contributed the most. R/T's were a little too raspy at mid RPM's, plus I had one collapse so I looked for an alternative. I did a lot of research and a lot of people said crawford's were quieter. Crawfords are an oval shape vs round shape of R/T's. I did not notice a significant reduction in sound (probably due to other exhaust components), but raspy-ness seems to have been reduced a lot. Crawford service is unbeatable.

Default Here's what a well know Z shop owner told me

in order of loudness .

1. RT were the loudest
2. Crawford were the next loudest
3. UR were the quietest.

In terms of performance, he rated them all about the same.

Any feedback would be appreciated as I was seriously thinking of getting some.

Does anyone know where we could hear some sound clips?. I really don't want my car sounding loud especially with Nismo headers and the Nismo cat back I plan to also install

Default thanks Anthz

hi flow cats seem to really make a difference on these cars. I just worry about the increased volume.

This can be an easy question or a very difficult one. Depends on what other airflow mods you have on your car.

On an otherwise completely stock intake/exhaust system, one product may be quieter than another, yet react differently to changing other components. It is really very unpredictable.

Overall volume will also largely be determined by what kind of catback exhaust you are using. If you are really concerned about quiet, keep the stock cat-back, then you can use almost anything for cats and, most likely, the sound will be of an acceptable volume.

Also, although certain cats may technically be quiter than others according to a dB meter, one must also take into account the frequencies involved. A small increase in mid-bass can lead to a boomy droning sound which is extremely intolerable, while a greater increase in volume, but limited to upper bass frequencies can actually provide a very pleasing, aggressive exhaust note. All that said, my vote goes to two products:

Crawford and Ultimate Racing. from these, the UR's a probably a tad quieter, but like I said, it will depend on your other mods in terms of the overall sound.

As you can see from the intial post, my mods are in my Sig. I argee, with intake and exhaust... the UR's are the way to go, to reduce some volume.

Is there some changes available for the ecu when installing headers/cats/exhaust?

there is no "right" answer to that question - it depends on your air fuel and what the ecu is doing

Default so....some of us may need an ecu reflash

using technosquare and some of us may not.....

I don't know alot about cars, but how will I know if I do?

My plan was to buy two of your cats (UR) and a Y pipe ( maybe Gruppe S)

I was also thinking of headers as well and keeping the stock pipe and muffler as I reallly just want some more low and mid range oomph without alot more noise.

Does this make sense?

my car sounds mean

some people might say it's loud

I think it's fairly loud but not LOUD

people have told me it sounds like an indy racecar, but that's also in part due to the tilton and other mods

I can set off every car alarm in my parking structure at work

I'm actually debating between my crawford cats and putting on the kinetix resonated pipes

I'm not 100% sure I'll pass smog with my setup anyway so I'll probably have to go back to stock cats either way to pass...

there really is no way to know if you need a reflash after those mods or not until they are installed and you do a dyno run to check AFR (or hook up a wideband on your own). Cars are like fingerprints - no two are the same. On my car (August 03 production date, MY04 car), my car still ran rich after the above mods - many have found their cars ran lean. My reflash consisted of taking out fuel nearly across the rev range - especially up top. For others, they find they need to add fuel.
