It was even my understanding that some experts thought the cats were the most restrictive part of the exhaust.
Headers can achieve a nice chunk of power on their own as our dynos demonstrate, but test pipes are the easiest and cheapest. The are the "best bang for the buck."

The problem is noise. We constructed ours with this in mind. If you want to hear the test pipes go to...

There we have a video clip on the dyno. The best thing is that on the dyno you can really hear how the exhaust sounds (If it was outside you would have all kinds of background noise that will take away from the exhaust tone).

HEADER PICS AND DYNOS FOR ANYONE WHO MISSED OUT:

This pic is the first set that we dyno'd as a prototype. The final set is a little different to allow for ease of fitment.

How do your test pipes sound? I assume that they have the standard rasp associated with unresonated pipes?

I will do better then tell you how they sound...you can see the video clips...this is taken on a dyno through the entire rev range in an isolated space so there is no background noise from the street so you can here EXACTLY how the car sounds with the test pipes (car also has an HKS exhaust)...

I'd honestly prefer your expert opinion from hearing them in person. Sound clips, depending who recorded them from where and how, can be decieving. Is there the standard rasp at around 3k rpm?
