Default APS exhaust installed

Just some pics. I have to let it settle a bit first for real impressions I guess. Butt dyno is not even worth mentioning. It's a bit louder than I expected but I don't hear any droning on the highway. Only thing left is to break it in and dyno it I guess. I only have RT cats, Kinetix plenum, and JWT pop charger on the car.

The only thing I was disappointed was some of the welds on the muffler. They weren't very good. The welds on the piping was pretty good though. Also they seemed to have missed this flange.

Looks like they just tacked it on and forgot to run the final bead around the pipe. So I wouldn't say its a bad weld, but just no weld at all.

If you are referring to an ecu reflash, I had that done by Altered Atmosphere already.

The system retails for $1190.

Some of the weld are done poorly on the muffler. The pic I posted is the one they just forgot to weld.

Got any other close-up pics of the other "bad" welds?

Sorry I don't seem to have any in my collection. I will see if I can get some while it's still on the car.

Why is the butt dyno not worth mentioning? Did you not feel anything after installing it? How does it sound?

It's almost impossible to tell gains from an exhaust. I see a lot of people post 'it feels good' but can you honestly tell a 10whp gain on a 250whp car? As far as sound goes, I haven't driven it enough yet to break it in. I believe typically the exhaust takes at least couple hours of driving for the sound to completely come out. I will make some sound clips and post it later.

Cool, let us know if you end up being happy with the exhaust.

That's not a bad weld job. They just forgot to weld it. I posted that pic stating that they forgot to weld it, not as a pic showing bad workmanship. There are welds that show poor workmanship but I guess it's my words since I don't have pics. I am not sure if could get pics of it without taking it off.

I would do that if I thought something would come of it. I'd probably have to prove somehow that that is indeed one of their exhaust systems and so on and on. It's not really worth it as it wasn't too costly to have it welded.

Just a head's up PM to Peter with a link to this thread might get them to buff up their QC for future kits. Think of it as helping future buyers.

The welding is terrible. You'll probably have a lot of little exhaust leaks everywhere. If you took it to a local muffler shop to have it fixed, the flanges might warp unless the muffler guy is really careful.

This is not cool for a big company like APS, especially since it's so expensive. You could get much higher quality Japanese exhausts.

Oh well live and learn. I do have a better feel for the exhaust now though. In my OPINION I lost some on the bottom end but the revs seem to climb faster. Not too loud but the sound isn't as 'mellow' as I'd hoped. I will try to put a clip up this weekend. I am pretty sure I have a minor leak somewhere but I have to wait until this weekend to check it out on the lift. I might just be imagining things too .
