Default First AAM Plenum Spacer Review (I think)

First off, this is a well made piece o'metal. High tolerances, and perfect fit. To all those who said the could make this in the backyard out of aluminum cans and a hammer, guess again.

Install was straight forward, and took me about forty-five minutes of actual wrenching. The instructions were written well and easy to follow. Only problem was that for the center 6 bolts in the plenum, I had 2 bolts that were too short to install with the supplied o-ring washers. Not a big deal (I hope )

Driving impressions:

Started my car... hmm that's odd, its idling smoother. No increases sound, actually its quieter at idle. Almost like its running on batteries. Took it for a quick drive, and noticed that the JWT POP charger has a little more hiss when getting on the gas, and there is definitely an increase intake noise from the POP charger now. I believe its really just taking in that much more air now.

The Butt Dyno, gives it two cheeks up. Torque is definitely improved, and it takes less pedal to get up some of the steep little hills near my house. My Borla even drones a less on those same hills, although it my be my imagination, tough to tell. Red line comes quicker in all gears, and the car feels quicker, like it lost 200 lbs.

I think it might also have a side effect of increasing mileage, if I can mange to stay off the right pedal.

Installed mine on Thursday and had similar issues with bolt fitment. 4 of the 6 bolts in the center section didn't reach, and the 2 that did reach were only holding on by a couple of threads. I decided to install all of them without washers, and I didn't feel any crossthreading, so hopefully it'll be alright. Additionally, this was my first time removing my plenum, so I wasn't expecting the two guide studs to remain in the lower plenum (bolts 12 and 18 if I remember right). It would have been nice to know before beginning that I was going to need a special tool to raise them an eighth of an inch. I'll be making a trip to Sears later.

Yeah, those two need a female torx socket. I forgot about that, it needs to be in the instructions. In a way it is because they don't mention those two bolts, skipping them.

Did you feel much improvement? I notice I need only to apply about 1/2 of the throttle that I used to when getting up to speed. Almost like the timing was advanced.

I have one on order but wonder if it is be worth it now. With my supercharger, I don't know if I will see any gains to be honest. The SC blows air in so well, does anyone think this spacer will show any significant improvement? Also, I will probably need to retune (my A/F) to avoid running lean, correct?

I think I can feel a performance boost, but I don't trust my butt. I could definitely tell that the engine braking has been reduced. I also heard significantly more whistling from the JWT intake, or at least I hope that's what it is.

You may not notice a difference. But you may pick up ~5hp on the dyno. Yeah you might want to tune it for the spacer.
