Anyone else with a Borla TD exhaust having issues with the passenger side piping hitting their rear right suspension arm? It happens only when the car bounces a bit after a hill or pot hole and the arm is pulled down by gravity. I've tried to rotate/redo all the piping in many different configurations and found that the most I can get is about .75 inch of clearance there.
Also the rubber hangers are getting stressed out...Anyone else having bad fitment issues?
Thanks in advance!

i had the same problem. when my tranny got replaced a few weeks ago, my guy fixed it for me by adjusting it. i think they caused the problem in the first place though, when they replaced my axles.

I see...so they were able to adjust yours out huh? I spent a good 2-3 hours readjusting the whole system in 10,000 configurations....It seems the most I could clear was almost an inch. I guess I'll try to release that hanger to gain another cm or so of clearance.
Anyone else having these problems? Are your hangers getting stressed out by the exhaust system?

I have had the same issues after the Crawford cats. I also have adjusted the rear passenger side near the suspenion 10,000 times and it still vibrates or rattles when I rev or take off. The hangers do stretch to the max. I've read and tried everything on this site and now I just live with it. If anyone ever finds a good solution the beers are on me.

become good friends with the head foreman at your local nissan, then have him put it on the lift and go at it. that's what i did :-)
he was tired of driving my car and hearing the rattle (i bring it in a lot)
there was def no way i could have fixed it with just some of my hand tools and jackstands

Not going to try and resolve the issue?

For the time being, I removed the rubber hanger on that troublesome pipe. It helped bring the pipe down about 7mm :P I'm hoping it'll hit a bit less now.
I'm going to look for a bigger rubber hanger to use there. That way it won't pull up on the pipe and might actually act as a spacer so the pipe doesn't bounce upwards toward the suspension arm.
If all this fails, I'll probably just take her to a muffler shop and have that section cut out and a new mandrel bend welded in :P
damn it...

I guess this is one reason the Borla TD was so economical.

So an update - Those 7cm that removing the hanger created seems to have worked so far. I'll continue running over small potholes lol.
When I installed my Borla it looked really close so I tweaked and turned the pipes to get all the clearance I could. Sitting on the ground it only has 5/8in of clearance, but I've never heard it hit and there aren't any marks showing that it did.(I looked after reading this) Maybe it's the cats/test pipes or the potholes here just aren't as big...lol

If you look at the other side it has a good 1.5 inch clearance, and it never hits.

Update:
Solved this today. Wasn't the suspension afterall...it was the stupid "M" brace that typically hits on borla exhausts lol.
Just pull down on the resonator pipes above the M brace and see if it can hit. If so, unbolt the clamps in that vicinity and put some wood blocks or a jack to hold the system up while you rotate the pipe for more clearance. Tighten the clamps and remove the blocks/jack and it should stay nice and far away from the stupid brace.
The other solution is to space the brace away from the body with spacers (talked about a lot on this board)...
Cheers!

My Borla was the first mod I did to my car. I also noticed the noise as soon as I put it on. Sounded like ****! When I took my car to the muffler shop to have them look at my test pipe "whisp" sound, he said he could fix it. He cut the hanger and then welded it back in place but at a slight angle. The extra weld made the hanger longer and the angle resolved any fitment issues I had before. I haven't heard it make a sound since.
