Default just another dyi header install

first of all ... is all i can say if you plan on doing this yourself. i had help and it would have taken me twice as long otherwise! this is a mf***** (understatement)...and be prepared for a long day and most of all as i have heard several times over....patience grasshopper i only threw my tools three times, beat on a few things laying around, and whoever was was within earshot probably learned some new ways to use the word f***

i had the dc sports stainless, jet hot coated....problem one....ensure your bong hole threads are good to go before installing...otherwise that coating will make it a mf****** to install that sensor. this would have saved several hours and frustration because its hard to get the threads on the sensors started once the headers are in place

next up....be sure you have every tool you can think of...cause your going to need it....especially if you plan on removing as little as possible to get those suckers in and out. the steering column (move), sway bar, and a couple of brackets are all that i needed to take out

as for performance...well they have a nice growl, especially mid range, and pull throughout the powerband....nothing special but definately an improvement.

now if had to do it all over again, i could do it much faster....but i would still consider paying the 400 bucks even though i like to do my own work.

overall, a good upgrade to the powerband...and very gratifying that i was able to do this one myself

Hah sounds like a real pain in the A$$. About how long did it take you... what tools were needed?

two days...should have only been one but that sensor i spent about 2 hours trying to get the threads started on one side....the other side went on ok. i finally took a dremel 90 degree and a grinding stone to bevel the edge of the bung hole while the header was mounted and the sensor went right in after....that the next day. seemed like that break did a lot of good....when you start getting frustrated walk away for awhile and then get back to it....this is what i mean by patience!

as far as tools, a 14 mm ratcheting wrench where the head can pivot 90 degrees either way is the main one; breaker bars, universal swivels, short/long extensions, deep/medium 14 mm sockets too. also, have 1/4, 3/8. and 1/2 inch tools just in case you might need them....sometimes the little 1/4 can get in there to run down the nuts. there is also a special socket for the end of the stud thats nice for running them back in if they come out....about half of them came out. for breaking loose those header nuts....lots of muscle and either 3/8 or 1/2 tools. the sensor is a 22 mm open end wrench....i recommend that over a crescent.

most of all patience....give yourself some time, two people and an extra car in case you need to get something from the store...so make sure your working when the stores are open.

i did this on jackstands....a lift would be nice and save a little time...no air tools either and the only thing that might work is a 90 degree air ratchet.

good luck if you decide to do this....its really not that bad....but its just a b**** to get to stuff. you could spend more time removing other parts for access but i didn't do that and maybe could have saved me more time. no drainage of any coolant either...don't even know why you would have too. removing some brackets is about the only extra things i did to get to the bolts.
