Default Pro Flow vs Evo TB

Can anyone give me a comparison of the Pro Flow and Evo Throttle Bodies, other than the price difference? Thanks.

I want to buy one, but when i had 350 evos it put on my check engine light. Does proflows put on a light, and can you feel the difference?

Thanks Glen

Please correct me if Im wrong but isnt the 350 EVO TB 80mm? Thats a MUCH larger TB, if I have the sizes right. Where can you buy PF TB's? Ive never heard of them. Also, do you know the stock size?

http://proflowdesign.com/throttlebodies.html

They are about $60 cheaper than the EVO ones. I would like to know some answers to these question as well. I just purchased a Vortech SC and am thinking of other mods to add at this time. I have all exhaust and intake mods except the TB! How much do you think a TB will help out with a F/I setup?

Same... what is the stock bore? So Proflow is 72mm and EVO is 80mm? And is volume too large to the point of losing low end without extensive mods and and ECU flash?

Thanks for the link. As far as power I dont know, my ecu is flashed for the 350 Evo TB, so I want to get it. I remember reading that BJ said the 350Z race team they are with or affiliated with picked up 3 mph down the back staright at Daytona. On my old car a 2.5 L V-6 Probe-going from a stock 60mm to a 67mm would give about 4-5 whp. Id figure 2-4 for us?? Ill dyno test mine when I get it.

Oh so 350 evos throttle body is bored out more then proflow. Well now i feel 350 evos throttle body is better of the two. Do you all agree or did I misread something.

Thanks Glen

They are ths same thing. There is no way the evo is bored more than the proflow. I have the proflow and is is bored as large as it will go, so to say that 350evo got a bore 8mm larger is not true. The gains don't come from the bore really, they come from modifying the shaft that the throttle plate attaches to. They eliminate half of it on the top side thus giving it a much lower profile.

What is involved in reinstalling one of these TBs? Are they as simple as bolting them up and starting the car? Is there any sort of learning process the new TB must undergo??

That TB looks great, and IDENTICAL to the 350 Evo TB. It def cant be bored out more. I just tried calling 350 Evo to get a size on theirs but they are not open yet, Ill call later. I thought I read once it was 80mm, but right now its looking like I was wrong, thanks for the info.

Sometimes the outlet side (the side that attaches to the plenum) can be bored larger than the inlet side, so that may be what 350evo is refering to by an 80 mm bore.

In terms of install/removal, just remove the intake tube, and there are 4 bolts that hold in on that are allen keyed and then unplug/plug the TB sensor plug and that is it.

Pretty sure I read that the flap doesn't open fully on stock, but does on 350EVO... or maybe it just opens faster, I know it had something to do with that. I don't think the larger bore was the determining factor, maybe that is just a result of polishing? If so, they flow restriction may also be reduced somewhat.

350EVO chime in here! Alot of questions and confusion here over this inflated TB issue. <-- they also said it was for a flashed ECU, running higher max RPM's (so don't expect any gains before 6000 RPM's) IMO.

The 80mm bore figure for the 350EVO is that of the initial measurement at the mouth, which then tapers down to ZERO at the tail end. The over bore where the throttle plate is at approx. 2mm.

The throttle plate opening deal is independant of the TB ... that is an ECU matter.

So do we think it will definitely benefit a car running F/I? I have been thinking about getting this for a while but have not been too convinced to do so. Now that I am going F/I I am seriously considering it. I plan on getting the L-Spec flash from TS.

I guess my bottom line is that I dont want to spend $230 on a TB that will yield minimal if any gains.

Pro flow design does all our T body modifications.
We were away testing today and not at the shop.
The luxury with getting it through 350EVO is that there is no down time.

I have my heads ported and polished, and i also had my intakes honed out also. Do you guys think the throttle body would be a good mod to add also.

Thanks Glen
