Default ***intake idling problem

I installed one of those knock-off intakes you get from ebay, it has the exact same bends in the tubing, and exact same filter location as the AEM intake, the only thing majorly different was the pricetag. My question to those with experience with AEM intakes is if anyone else notices a lower idle speed then usual. My z is running about 100 rpm lower then it used to, so at redlights theres just a little vibration in the shifter that is getting to be annoying. Im just checking to see if theres some problem with the intake or how it was installed, or if the low idle is a result from different filter location and filter resistance from the stock setup. Help is appreciated.

Grounding kit will help , mine was on when I purchased it so I cant tell you if rpm's dropped but mine goes up and down constanly. What is your idle rpm now? You said 100 lower should idle around 750.Do you have any other mods?

I just wnet out and tried it , turned a/c on sit for 5 minutes to worm up regular idle but jumps to almost 650 with the air or dfrost on. I would go with grounding kit 1st(cheap) make sure you get the right guage wire I think 4 or 5 gauge will work 4 is better it will even out the idle. Or go have the idle bumped at the dealer I just dont know how much it will cost good luck.

1. MAF sensor pluged in poperly.
2. Make sure all your couplings, tubes, fittings are tight, NO air leaks.
3. Not too much oil on the conical filter
4. Unhook your battery and let it sit overnight for a simple re-flash (it worked if your lost your presets )
5. grounding kit with 4 guage wire helped my idiling from day one, before any mods...it was weird...but nice!

If this doesn't help, I don't know what's wrong with your car? I know my engine has to warm up to it's normal level before I can get on it. If I just start it up and try to take off...it's starts to putter a little bit. Once warmed up by regular driving, I have ZERO problems and I can get on it at any time.

Sounds like an MAF problem. This is that plastic piece before the stock airbox that has a little plug connected to it. Make sure it is oriented the same way it was with the stock airbox and is tightly on the intake. Check all connections then reset the ecu by unplugging the battery for 24 hours. This worked best for me and now I have no issues.

Agree with all of the above re: leak or MAF issue. Also try the some resetting procedures for the ECU. This stuff has been covered in detail.
