I would go with the one that releases the least amount of heat. Both ceramic and SS should last quite a while.

If you don't require the look of the SS headers, go with the ceramic.

How often are people looking at the bottom of your car?

Go for function.

I'm considering some Stillen ceramic headers.

What do you mean by that?

If it was my choice, I'd buy the crawford headers or the copy cat nismo headers from BRM and get them jet hot sterling coated.

The Alphawerks, Strup, Topspeed and DC Sports headers all look the same external wise and probably make around the same horsepower figure. I'd just be wary of quality of the collectors. You don't want a nice looking header on the outside with a crappy collector pipe on the inside end.

I was on a budget and was orignally shooting for the Strup headers until I found a good price on SS DC sports headers...

go with the jet hot 2000 coating...it hold up better against high temps and is not that much more money

I think it's you who doesn't know what you're talking about. It has nothing to do with prices.......Alphawerks granted sponsorships to some of us on this forum and decided not to honor some of them and decided to let us know that by ignoring our calls and PM's in hopes that we would just go away. There's a whole thread about this.

I think something else is up with them. Its like they fell off or something. Ive contacted them about the photo shoots Ive done and the need for more banners. They havent returned any emails and Ive seen the cost of the headers DROP big time.

they will reduce heat but will not last as long as stainless....all depends on your budget. i would go ss and then coat them with jet hot.

Just reading more about headers. Friend of mine is thinking about buying a set. Thought i would research them again.

This thread out of the many i have searched gives some great info.

Thought i would bump it to the top.

Later

all this talk about which is best, yet there are almost no specs posted and even fewer meaningful pictures....

since I have these handy

DC Sports

Features 40.1mm diameter primaries, and extremely smooth welds. Ceramic coating is on inside and outside of the pipes and flanges for increased exhaust flow. Stainless units feature full stainless pipes and flanges. New gaskets not included, but recommended (you are best off using OEM gaskets). CARB certified

looks identical to GT Spec/Tomei/Fujitsubo

nothing earth shattering about the design vs any other out there

I cannot understand how/why everyone comments about equal length vs non - as if they would be able to tell the difference given 99.9% of the typical mods people do, unless they were told or shown a picture of the tested header. How anyone could say it uses a "better" collector design is a bit beyond me too - having seen the ones I mentioned first hand, they are very nicely done, but they have no "collector" to speak of, and based on the design pictures shown, neither do these. The DC Design (copied by lots) happens to be quite nice given the space constraints,a nd is no better nor worse than the ones shown in that thread. The collectors on ANY of these units are driven by the design of the primaries. All at this price point are short tube headers, which will pale in comparison to a proper long tube design (and the right cam/head work to make it shine) in the first place - pick your poison, but all of these are going to net very similar results both tuned and untuned (on a typically modded car).

I'm by no means an expert either, but there comes a time where people read too much misinformation and suddenly it turns into "fact". Look at the dynos of any of the units at this price point and you'll see they all have very similar gains. The Crawfords are unique in that they are using much longer tubes than anyone else, yet in a shorty design. I'd still love to see someone do a proper long tube one though, but it would take a properly built motor to realize the results.

Because equal length headers perform better than unequal length headers. The exhaust pulses exit the primary tubes at the correct time and create a vacuum that pulls the next cylinder's pulse out faster.

Some mods don't create enough of a difference to notice while driving your car. So, you have to try to buy the best mods... the mods that make the most sense, and hope that all the intangible improvements add up and make your car the fastest on the Net.

I am about to install the Strup headers. Price was nice and seems like they are quality.
