How much (realistic) WHP? What type of tone would my Z be making? Where will the butt dyno register most?
Mostly interested in hearing from people with some/all of these exact mods.
Thanks!

I guess this will compliment your future blower. Are you still going for Stillen?

I've got the nismo exhaust and like it. Sounds good to me but it does drone a bit on the highway in 6th gear.

hope you're not getting rid of the UR Cats because of the noises mine were making? Figured out that the lard-asses at the shop i had it put on at decided that the 3rd bolt on the driver's side manifold/cat flange wasn't necessary... ridiculous...
anyway, they sound awesome now
-- especially since the SSV went on this afternoon
Nope. I would love to use them but my mod plans are taking me in a different direction and I wont be able to use them. I really didnt expect to make this change. I have been drooling over the UR cats and topspeed headers and now just as I am about to install them, I changed plans and cant use them.
BTW, they are for sale now too.

Thanks for the honest info.
I think this is going to be one of those things where people are just going to disagree.
Adding to my confusion is that some of the people here are saying that the car's computer will compensate for the new intake and you will lose any gains you momentarily received unless you reflash your ECU.
This may be why some people say the part makes a difference and others don't. There may be a temporary gain of a few horses but over time that gain is gradually reduced back down to stockish numbers.
I guess I'm going to have to look at it like this; I'm spending the money to make my engine sound a little louder, a little more aggresive, do I want to spend $50 for a K&N filter or $150 for a Pop Charger? I'm guessing the pop charger will have a much more pronounced sound improvement but is it really worth the extra $100? The K&N is only $50 but will its improved engine sound quaility be enough to warrent the $50?
I had a K&N filter on my Golf GTi VR6 and while I didn't notice any performance increase I did notice a mildly pleasing improvement in the sound of the intake...
Quite simply guys, do you want perceived gains ie I can hear **** more so it must be more, or do you want real off the line and down the road gains? An intake any intake and 99.999% of all exhaust systems, including headers WILL NOT give you dollar for dollar any way near the acceleration that a simple 3.19 rear end gear change will do. For the expense of the first two items you can do the latter. It really is that simple, and that my freinds is from my own experience from my trip down mod lane dong the exact same things you all are discussing. My *** didn't get really kicked untill I installed BJs gears.

3,604 post and you still don't know lol? Try using the search and read more than you post.

I am very aware of the serach feature but I like up to date realtime info and advice.
Anyway the sound of the NISMO is intoxicating and if I just cared about power I would not buy ANY bolt ons and just go FI. 3.9 swap is around a 10% gain in acceleration but it kills your gas mileage even when you are not on it. That just sucks! You can get better MPG with a SCharger. Also an installer can REALLY mess that up.
Thanks for all the info. I think I will be adding the pop charger to this list for looks and sound if anything else. If all I cared about was HP then I would be dense to go this route...i want sound and was wondering what added bonus of power I am geting with it.
That will make
JWT Pop Charger
Crawford Cats
NISMO Exhaust
I will be happy to see even 10WHP
Honestly, for the money you are going to spend on the intake and cat-back, I would just get the crawford headers. I think you would feel more of difference with highflows and headers, then you would with the highflows and exhaust. But goodluck with any route you take

you will see more than 10whp with those mods and you will love the sound. Enjoy it man.
I noticed a definate change in sound when I added my JWT Popcharger. A nice whistle at low RPMS and a loud growl from underneath the hood when at WOT. After installing the popcharger I installed the nismo exhaust and UR crank pulley. I can definately tell a difference, however not drastic, there is definately a difference. The combination of popcharger and NISMO exhaust is absolutely sick, but could be a little louder. I guess that means that resonated test pipes are on the way..............
I decided to take my own advice and buy what I want. I realized if I just got the K&N filter I'd be wanting the Pop Charger still and would end up getting it anyway thereby wasting $50.
I found the JWT Pop Charger for $125 shipped so I went ahead and ordered that. Should be here next week, about the same time as my touch-screen LCD comes in, damn I 'm going to be busy next week. =)

I think his order makes sense and that he will in fact notice a difference in the car.
I'd suggest JWT clutch and flywheel too. Very noticeable.

I don't disagree with the sound being constant from an exhaust and a little louder than the Pop charger, but I was comparing what Enthuziast had on his list...unlike you. Real help patriot
Pop Charger vs Nismo exhaust, not Stillen. Nismo is 6whp. IMO, the Popcharger properly enclosed from engine heat, like OEM, will net 5whp. Just my humble opinion and a few other who have ridden in my car before and after. Why don't you just suggest a $8000 dollar turbo setup for the guy, that's the route you're taking, right? I chose not to go the turbo or s/c route for personal reasons and $$$. I gave myself a budget of $1500 for engine mods, not including exhaust, which I will replace with something nice when mine falls off.
Plan and simple... I spent $1400 for all my engine mods including my time installing them. I can say I gained roughly 15-20whp from my mods. I will know soon enough once I get a dyno and will be more than happy to post the results, good or bad. You can see all my engine mods in my sig/link. I think the gear change is a good mod, for the track... For street and roll-on racing, I would rather have more HP and TQ.
Like I said before, have fun with it, the installs included...one of the main reason I did these mods. I like to work on cars and reap the benefits.

Does anyone have Dynos to back up the gains from the different intake / exhaust combos?
I'm looking into a Nismo intake and Nismo exhaust, but I've read too many things about the cars's chip having to be reprogrammed to get gains from bolt ons... How true is this?
Yes, I know about the search, but I'd like up to date answers

You should also get a baseline dyno before you bolt everything on and cry how little gains you get.
You know what... for $1400, I'm happy with what I "feel" and hear!
"IF" I gain 25-30whp out of all of this, I will be ecstatic
Unfortunately, I didn't get a base dyno, so I'll have to base everything off "standard" output.
I won't have a new exhaust or ECU re-flash either. It will be interesting to see the results.
