I just ordered it from HopUpracing. Looks to be 245 shipped for polished and 255 shipped for black powdercoat. I got the powdercoat. HopUp says they are checking my order right now but it is so new and just got released that they dont think they have any at the moment. I will probably get one drop shipped to me from injen themselves. Will let you guys know when this goes on. I will create a new thread and review on it.

Nice choice on year model and color Z :-D I am not going to dyno. At the moment I have a JWT popcharger and gutted stock cats. I am replacing the stock cats with stock non gutted cats and putting on the injen exhaust plus the new injen cai. HopUp told me injen just backordered the intake for 2-3 weeks... WTF! oh well.

here's mine. Yeah they said that it will have more horsepower than the old intake... Looks better than the old ones. Don't you guys think that the baseline dyno number is kinda low for a stock Z?

Default Injen cai

Just received shipment on rd1985p injen cai yesterday. What is the difference in horsepower to the 1986sp? Is the 1986sp worth the exchange? Do you really need to remove the bumper or can you jack-up the car and remove the splash guard to be able to install the secondary intake to the bumper?

i have an '05 and want this "new" intake too so i had to do a post just so any responses will get sent to my email! lol i'm curious as to where the filter placement is as well. Gonna be between this sucker here and the JWT pop charger (i live on a road that gets dusty in the summer time and the placement of the filter scares me on other CAI's)

It looks like the new one eliminates the stock MAF adapter and the connections around it to the CAI piping. It looks as though the tubing length and filter placement is the same. I simply can not see how this design will yield any additional HP over the previous design. Same filter design, same filter placement, same overall length, same diameter...... There is less chance for leaks, but that is all about the install.

as you stated....no MAF....i believe this will be where the improvement is made although i have no explanation but that is the only major difference

Default CAI for 350Z

I did receive a Email from Injen rep. He. stated that the new 1986 would give me more horsepower over the 1985, but didn't give me figures of how much horsepower. Nor did he give me the price difference between the 1985 and the 1986. I decided to just install the 1985. Installation is not that difficult. I had to modifiy the heat sheild to clear hoses, pipes and exhaust. You don't have to remove the plastic bumper, drop the plastic splash shield that is connected to the plastic bumper.

No "stock MAF housing" as it is part of the new Injen tubing, but you still have a MAF. Either way it is more similar than it is different and I still can't see how they are claiming power gains over the older design. I wish they would describe how they are actually gaining anything besides reducing the potential for leaks with an improper install.

Default CAI intake

I agree with ZZZYA. I don't see alot of difference between the two intakes with the exception of leaving out the mass MAF sensor.
