Default Question: Intake Manifold...Any good for boosted Z?

In the ever greedy search for hp, I've seen the intake manifolds for the Z. Do these work a. well b. well with forced induction? Just looking for someone with experience...dont want to blow useless cash. Also, what kinds are best (if any) and what kind of gains did you experience?

Most people have had good experiences with Crawford Intake Manifolds with F/I....maybe 20hp. New variations like the APS Tallboy have been developed and a few new designs like Kinetix (just released) and a new version by EVO is expected in a few months. Gains with Kinetix vary with every thread you read. Maybe some others can chime in.

I use the crawford on my Vortech setup....adds a few ponies but makes sure the front cylinders get more consistent air with back....helps with tuning, reliability in my mind.

I've heard good things about the crawford. If nothing else, just better breathing would be a plus. Thanks for the 2 bits.

Do you have to do any tunning after the new intake manifold? Anyone with the turbonetics uses an after market manifold or plenum?

I have had good luck with both the Crawford and now the new Kinetix SSV.

If you just want the power, I'd go crawford. If you want the power (similar to the Crawford v5 or Kinetix v4) AND some serious bling factor, go with the SSV. I know some have had success with the Kinetix V4, but I'd still go Crawford over that... still not comfortable with the idea of a plastic intake plenum.

I think Andy and Nis hit it on the head. Most of the plenums will provide similar gains, provided that your car is retuned carefully and thoroughly with the new plenum. In to the power gains, you should see better air distribution between cylinders, and a higher volume plenum is especially helpful with F/I applications.

Most likely, the APS Plenum will acheive similar result to the Crawford, but at a lower pricepoint.
