Ken350Z,

In your stock configuration (no plenum spacer and no spacers under strut bar supports), how much space do you have between the bottom of the strut bar and the top of the indentation in the plenum? I'm just curious to see if you have a lot less than most others have to start with. I'm wondering how much variation in height there is on different cars.

Thanks,
Dave

Good question....

I guess it's something under 1/4", maybe 3/16".

I'll check in the AM when it's easier to see.

good idea

i think the 05 has less clearance, i can see it just from pics

on the 05 its probably better going for the 1/4" MD spacer, if 1/2" up front is rubbing

That would explain a lot. Mine right now (prior to installation) is 3/4".

Checked this morning, looks to be about 3/16".

The best I could do with the spacer on was about 1/8". Any higher and it started to hit the hood. At 1/8" it seems OK for a while but after it warmed up I noticed the vibration when acclerating from a stop.

guys just for clarification

the space under my strut bar, on an '05 300hp engine is exactly 15mm = 0.1inches

does anyone know how tall the strut bar spacers in the Motordyne kit are?

The smallest spacer from Motordyne is 1/4" or about 6mm. BTW, 15mm would be more like 0.58". With spacers on the strut bar mounts you might be able to raise the strutbar to fit the 1/4" motordyne spacer. You need to check top of strutbar to hood clearance to make sure there's room to raise it.

does anyone have a picture of their spacer installed??? I just installed mine today and was wondering if I did it right... It seemed that the 25mm bolts would not go in the instructed areas so I just left them out

I doubt a picture would help much, it's hard to see what's going on anyway. I had problems with a couple of the back bolts not biting, they needed to be a little bit longer. I had some extras so I was able to go with longer ones and make it work.

Man... Sorry to hear about all the problems with the spacers...

I installed my AAM spacer months ago and she's running great! Strut bars on, rubber hood bumbers still on, engine covers on, no leaks, no loose bolts. How did I do this? New bolts, which I posted a few times, lock washers, two washers per each STB bolt , new STB bolts that are slightly longer and a properly torqued STB. I bought all the necessary hardware at my local ACE Hardware, $20.

If you don't know, you can move the STB a 1/4" up and down using the large center nut. I adjusted mine 1/8" higher than the stock postion. Everything worked.

Go to the original AAM spacer GB thread for the bolt info...

Good luck and happy modding guys,
Zquicksilver

Could you be more specific, i.e. #'d bolt locations? It's been awhile since I did an install, but I do recall that two factory studs remain in place with the AAM preventing installation of bolts in those locations.

Sorry about that Kaitain, I get the same error message. I suspect the post in question has been pulled. Group buys may not be allowed over there either and that might have resulted in it getting pulled.

If I search for posts started by blazinZ, it doesn't return any related to a GB on the MotorDyne spacers.

So what's the original clearance on the strutbar to the OEM plenum? I only have somewhere like 5mm (3/16") though...

cheers,

richie
