I just installed borla exhaust today and when im just idiling every minute or so it makes like a thump noise from like the middle of the exhuast do you guys think it is just breaking in or should i get it checked out

could be a leak, did you do it yourself? If you did when you installed it did you let the car idle while it was still lifted and check for leaks along all the joints? If not do it

 

I have the stock exhaust but when the car is idiling and the radio is off I can hear the noise you are describing. It almost feels like a miss fire. From what I've read, thats just the way the z idles. I notice it a lot when I'm in a drive thru line. If you watch the tach you will see a slight dip whenever it happens. I'm sure the noise is more noticeable with the borla exhaust.

 

Ummm...no way. Should idle smooth as silk. Even with the Borla, my idle is VERY smooth. Something is not right.

 

I have read on a lot of different posts about how the z doesn't idle very smooth. Mine doesn't and it hasn't since the day I got it. I'm not saying it is extremely rough but it isn't smooth or consistent. It seems to drop about 100 rpms every 10 seconds or so.

 

I've had that thump sound ever since my car is stock thought it was a misfire or fouled spark plug so i changed the spark plugs since the changing my SP i don't have the thump anymore.
