www.350EVO.com and www.proflowdesign.com

Thats it so far. I think the 350EVO ones are around $300 and the proflow ones are around $250. They dont actually make one, they take a stock one and hone it out and change the plate in it or something like that.

I thought they were around like 800 or somethin like that. Or is that with the charge for the core if you don't send yours back?

It is around $800 if you dont return yours. You would get charged the core of around $600 or $650.

There is nothing wrong with the stock one. With an aftermarket TB, I believe they just do something with the plate in the TB. Not sure exactly what though. I would say to do a search on here to find out exactly what either company does.

nothing is wront with stock anything... (well, almost)

these trottle bodies are lightened, polished and bored. Meaning better throttlel response, increased and smoother airflow

BTW, I can't find the throttle body on 350evo website... do they still make one?

350EVO makes the plate a lighter weight/thinner and bores out part of it slightly

I have it and have a ECU flash. Never felt a difference. Not even worth dynoing - probably within the error margin. I'm sure it can only help which is why I got it, but it doesn't do much.

I also have the 350Evo one. It may help, but not really measurable at NA power levels. I would expect this is something that could come into play at 400-500+ power levels. One thing it does do is make the car a lot more jerky right as you dip in an out of idle cause the ECU can't compensate all of the idle airflow. It would make a girl think you're a crappy driver cause it's really hard to be smooth. Fortunately, all the jerky, banging, sqeaking, and just flat out pealing out with the Tilton cover up the TB.

In summary, the money would be much better spent on a nitrous kit. That's a mod that you do actually feel.

usafarice, did u ever compare the following:

best nitrous run before throttle body mod vs best nitrous run after throttle body mod?

the throttle body is going to be my next mod, but not if its a waste of money.

I put the juice on after the TB. Honestly, of all the horsepower increasing mods that would benifit from a TB, nitrous is probably last on the list cause it just isn't the same increased volume of air like a SC or turbo. So, I would hold off on the TB until you've done a lot of other stuff, cause you won't be able to tell a difference.

Maybe after a non-FI car has ported heads, cams, intake, exhaust, and headers, the TB would be a good mod.

Well as long as you are asking, I just tried our attempt at a larger throttle body. Doug has been running one for a while and after the cams we needed to run some tests. The large gaps are 6-7 HP differences.

These are dynos from my car with only a modified throttle body swap (on they dyno). I was very surprised. I am not posting numbers or any other facts other than we are trying to dial the cams in with ecu flashes. Needless to say, I am keeping it on the car. On a side note, tuning is far from complete on the cams.

The price of the swap is $275 plus core. I dont know if we will handle it quite the same way as the plenums yet, as these are more valuable. Call Doug with any questions.

Here is the graph:

VandyZ:

How much larger is this throttle body actually compare to the stock throttle body? Will you guys manufacture the larger (even physically larger) throttle body for the zed instead of just boring it out? Thanks!

cheers,

richie

if you guys are doing throttle bodies, why not find a way to do ITB's?

As with most modifications, cost and practicality is a big concern. ITB's from a cost stand point would be somewhere in the neighborhood of a FI kit. Not only is there the cost of the ITB's, there is complete intake redesign, tuning, and drive by wire adaptation. A larger OEM style TB would not be worth the money as it will just hit a lip going into the plenum anyway, again intake redesign would need to facilitate the new TB.

The bored throttle body was made to mate up to our cast plenum, which has the larger intake neck to support a larger bored TB. The TB is bored out to 73mm with a larger butterfly.

For those who don't know, going from 69mm to 73mm is around 11-10% increase in air flow (rough calculation). But I was under the impression that the OEM is 71mm not 69mm.

It may be 71 on the edge . . .I think it has steps. The center is smaller than the edge. I will get more specific measurements this afternoon. Maybe Doug will post up the exact numbers before then.
