why do you say that? Is the 3.5 one of those engines where an intake doesn't really do much? My S4 had that problem, intake only made the car sound better...no HP gains at all.

I heard a 350z with a Jim Wolf POP Charger (I think) and the sound alone was worth the money

Ay ay ay, the intake questions again. "Injen makes significant gains" is yet another one of those urban myths out there. Aftermarket air intakes will make at best 6-7hp gains by themselves, and there is little if any difference between them - JWT, NISMO, AEM, K&N Typhoon, Injen - it all boils down to:

1. Which one looks better to you.
2. Which one sounds better to you.
3. Which one fits better into your overall NA upgrade strategy.

I vote NISMO since they also make headers and exhaust, and those three items have been tested to work together. I have read some threads of people LOSING hp at their dynos with certain combinations of intake/exhausts. However, that seems to be more the exception than the rule.

Main point is,

If you just want your engine to growl a little more, then pick up the Injen. I have one. I bought it under the assumption that I was going to get more HP back in 03. You dont get anymore HP out of it, but it does sound pretty cool, especially with the Borla dual exhaust.

Beware, The filters are $50 bux each!!! I just got a new one because my original was getting kinda ratty looking, and I got one straight from Injen.

Also, the recharge/cleaner kits are ~ $10.00 each.

Just a little info to let you know what you're getting into.

-Thats a lotta money for a growl noise

The JWT popcharger gives you more growl for only $100. If it is growl you are looking for, the popcharger is hard to beat. For looks though, I vote NISMO. Add some Pi-Thon hose locks, and it looks WICKED!

BTW, Thats not a pop charger in the pic (if thats what you meant).

The pop charger is cheaper, but it defeats it's own purpose but sucking in hot engine air.

At least with the Injen you get cool air, and a ram air effect.

But, to each his own.

A popcharger on a NISMO Z Roadster? Bwhahahahahahaha

I dont think so. I was just saying that if growl is all you are looking for, a popcharger is the cheapest way to go ($100 vs $280 for the NISMO CAI). I am a NISMO nut, so I didn't need much arm twisting to spend the extra $180. (plus another $140 for the CAI induction locks)

+1 to stock with a K&N drop in, unless you have a LOT of breather mods then you might want to get THe K&N Typhoon.

Im a K&N nut!

I vote to stay stock, although you can't argue with the sound, or the look of an aftermarket intake in the engine bay, they can cause problems with your MAF if they use an oiled type filter such as a K&N.

I installed a Stillen cai, which is really just a K&N cone filter w/ a Stillen shroud. I also have nismo exhaust and a KJR lightweight pulley. This combo works well for me--nice engine sound and exhaust note--no before and after dynos, but subjectively feels quicker than stock, and no low end loss.
