100hp from a NOS shot sure is nice, for about 5 seconds... if your into racing alot, then this is a great option, but on the streets, 1)Its very illegal, 2)if you do it wrong you can blow up your car(not the engine, I said CAR) and 3) you must plan to use it, turn it on, and in the case of a bottle warmer, you have to give it time. so while you sit there and fuddle with with your 100hp .1% of the time,

bolt ons will create their 5hp SAFELY, and CONSTANTLY. Nitrous has gotten a big reputation lately, but few really think about what it is.

anyway, Ive yet to see either company for sale, or actual pricing, or independent dynos. hopefully strictly Z or someone will get both and go out and do independent testing on them. best way to give their buyers postive information, and make people less skeptical on which to buy.

did you hear that strictly Z???

Plus when you N2O runs out you are S.O.L.

So true....

I made about 6 runs on a Friday Night Elimination and made it to 2nd place. I had dialed in at 12.2 to be safe because I had been running between 12.1 and 12.5 the prior 3 runs.

I did not launch off the bottle every time.

My last run was for first or second place. I was up against a HUGE Mopar van loaded with tools and crap and he had dialed in at 18 seconds all night! Most other competitors had already broke out.

So he got a 6 second head start on me before mt tree lit green. I had perfect reaction time and a 1.59 60' but he one.

I ran out of juice.......

Sad story, I got beat by a 18 sec van. That still bothers me. Had I had a turbo or SC I *may* have caught him but when you are staging waiting for green 6 seconds might as well be a minute.

I agree with the bolt-ons theory though, that is why I am not gonna be on the bottle in my Z.

I don't plan on racing all the time perhaps once or twice for time slips but I am quite sure I will remain in the 13's for the life of this car which I will be quite happy with for an Import V6.

Lol, that must've sucked losing to an 18sec van. What the hell was he doing there anyway? 1.59 is an awsome 60' time!

If you slap some slicks on the Z, high 12s may be a possibility with full bolt-ons. You never know.

It was Pontiac Vs. Mopar night and I guess that is the only way they could beat us Nor Cal LS1 Car Club and TACA (Trans Am Club of America)

I was using Nitto 55R Xtrems Drag Radials at the time. 315/17/40 to be exact and my car was well over 4k pounds!

He goes there every year and wins, he is not well liked at Sac Raceway lol....

No one can make up 6 seconds and if you go faster than your dial in (break out they call it) you lose anyway.

So he just does 18 sec on every run and wins. It's a numbers game to him, not speed but he is still a good driver to stay so consistant.

I could be wrong, but I think the stock MAF can only read so much airflow. So an upgrade wouldn't give power in itself, but allow more power to be made.

From the #1 MAF Manafacturer of after market MAF's I pulled this info.

Founded in 1989, Granatelli Motor Sports, Inc. is a leading manufacturer of high performance 50-state legal mass airflow sensors and suspension components for Ford and GM cars, trucks, and RV’s. GMS now offers maf sensors for 2003 Ford Mustang GT’s, Mach 1, and Cobra. It flows 47% more air, adds 10-23 rear wheel horsepower, is 50-state legal (CARB EO # D-471-1), features a 3-year limited warranty, and will not void your factory warranty. Installation occurs in 10-15 minutes with simple hand tools.

5RWHP is been proven on a Dyno in my city on an LS1 350 engine.
Like the other poster says it flows more cold air. More cold air = good

Another MAF link

There are cheaper ones from differnt manafacturers too.
import MAF's here

And then more info than you care to read here:

Default interesting...

Thanks for the info..

I guess this would be a better upgrade than a CAI?

Both cost about the same..

Personally I would do both.

The CAI will replace that big ugly black plastic restrictive box the stock air filter is in.

So the filter on the CAI will get air from all sides instead of just a pass through box.

So the after market MAF will adjust accordingly.

I wouldn't do just MAF without tweaking the intake.

I am waiting ahile, prices will drop and products will improve.

The stock Z intake is pretty awesome as is compared to other stock intakes I have seen.

To my knowledge, there is no aftermarket MAF for the 350Z yet. If anyone finds one, let us know.

Default Has anyone installed an AEM CAI...

Has anyone installed an AEM CAI? The reason I ask is that I have the LeMans Sunset color of the Z and do not want to have either blue or red from Injen. I can get the AEM in clear or polished and think it would look nice.

Also, if you have installed send me a pm with how long it took and the difficulty level. I am somewhat mechanically inclined, but do not want to go to extremes like taking the front bumper off, etc. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks.
