Default Cold Air Intakes..

Anyone found any decent inductions for the Z?

I've find one that promises 10-15hp increase, but I'm doin' a bit more research on it.

Where does it say 10-15 HP?
That's not THE ONE I saw, just one I found while trying to backtrack.

Figured I'd get some opinions on it.

AEM is one of the highest quality intakes on the market. I seriously doubt any intake could free up 10-15hp. Be careful when you look at hp claims by a company...they usually quote the largest gains in the powerband, but not peak hp.

many companies have this bad habit of forgetting to reinstall the bumper when they dyno the car... with it being a cold air intake this leave the filter wide out in the open with a fan blowing directly at it.

so yeah, they could get 10-15hp, dont expect it tho.

anyway, AEM is good, so in Injen, both are releasing their product around now. Im goin Injen personally.

Why do you leaning toward Injen? I am not sure how it would sound, since more of the piping is made of silicon hose. I would think AEM sounds better...consider both gain the same amout of hp.

Default could it be eRAM?

That's more like 15hp guaranteed, but only come at WOT.

the pictures I saw appeared to be mostly metal... but Id have to look again.

my reasons for wanting injen is that Ive seen variuos applications where they put out a better product than AEM. cant go wrong with either of course, and AEM might win on the Z. in the end, I might wait to see independent testing, just depends how antzy I get.

I would wait to see what Injen has coming! I have an Injen CAI now and they are great! Usually prefered over AEM in my experience.

You dont have to replace the stock exhaust system when you pop in a cold air intake... do you?

Actually, injen is known for their sweet sound. But no matter which one you choose you'll be getting a good product.

That AEM Intake link says M/T only. Is that Manual Transmision only? I'm looking for something for my AT.

I want to do it right though for the money I am gonna spend. I don't want to spend 300 bucks for 4 HP.

I can spend 500 bucks and get 100HP

Now what I mean Vern?

Venom!

Technically the max HP increase is like 7 to the wheels which means probably about 10HP for 275 bucks... Not too shabby for an NA car...
If you wanna wait.. I'd suggest waiting for the supercharger kit coming out in April... It'll be about 2900 dollars.

Not that this has anything to do with the 350... Injen went through 3 generations of CAI before they got it right on the current gen Celica's. The earlier one's didn't fit right, and if you got it to fit right they were prone to breaking mounts. Once they DID get it right it made more power than AEM.

Just saying i won't be first in line for an Injen.

That is what the world of bolt-ons is all about. 4hp there, 8hp there, and free up another 6hp on something else, a couple horses from good tuning. Now your looking at 20hp. Thats why the best way to do bolt-ons is more than one at a time, especially when they compliment one another, its just more $$$$.

And if you go for the SC, then you'll get bigger gains out of your bolt-ons.

I can vouch for that, i have a 01 Celica and a 3rd gen Injen CAI. Did i point out that i have pretty much the best sounding 4 cylinder around. They sound amazing! I cant wait to hear one on the 350. Especially mine!

Thumbs up tHANKS

Sounds' like I will await a 2nd gen Injen, by then it will time to do some tweaking anyway because the appeal of the stock HP will have faded.

I am all to familiar with the cost/effect of bolt ons. I spent thousands on my Hawk and it could have been never ending.
Once I got the N02 I was done. 12.1 sec in the 1/4 with a 1.5 60'!

These are my plans for the Z.

Throttle Body
MAF
CAI or FIPK
Chip
Exhaust

As far as performance mods go that is. That should net me 300HP I would think which is way up there for the V6 class the car is in.
At least we don't have to buy STB's etc! Thanks again Nissan!
